Would have expected a higher megapixel sensor here

Anything is possible

American markets, plus LTE growth in Europe, obvious enough

Well duh, if it was Gingerbread it would be DOA

8 Megapixel is more than enough to produce images for poster-size production. They need to stop increasing the megapixels and improve the quality. They've been "stuck" at around the 8mp mark for a couple of years now and the quality is slowly improving to the stage that they're giving a lot of P+S camera's a run for their money. How often do you use photos you take on a phone for anything other than wallpaper backgrounds? 5mp is enough for most people, they just need to improve the processing that usually results in blacks having purplish tints to them and static colours having a bit of a wavy look to them. Squeezing >8mp out of the tiny sensors in phones is asking a bit much. I'd rather they improve high-ISO sensitivity etc.

4.8" display would be fairly unlikely for a flagship phone. 16:9 aspect ratio is a possibility, a 1920x1080 resolution on a 4.8" display? I wouldn't hold my breath. If it actually _does_ end up having these specs, then it'll be pretty stunning. Super AMOLED HD+ or something?

Ceramic case? That would make it a premium product and make it a lot more expensive. I would've thought they'd be better off with some sort of magnesium alloy or carbon fibre if they were going the exotic-materials route.

Well announcement will likely occur in the next 3 days so not long to wait now. I have been informed that it's likely we may see these phones late May or early June

Does that mean no GSM version initially? So no VF friendly GS3 for me? That would make me sad, the only other serious contender for my cash right now is the HTC One X but since it has a locked bootloader it's not really an option.

Oh, no phone, just a ceramic knife set like yours. Was just saying that if my phone was porcelain, I would've chipped/smashed it a long time ago.

In terms of ceramics though, they could use a variety of materials. Titanium carbide, would be my pick. Strong, light, and looks very good! It'd be virtual drop/smash proof, if it was incorporated into the lip surrounding the screen.

EDIT: Just realised Gorilla glass is basically a glass, and ceramic based material. They aren't trying to say that Gorilla glass will be front, and back are they? if so, I won't be getting it

aeroplanes are made of ceramic. so are the brakes on (some) race cars ... i don't think ceramic is restricted to the urn that stores ashes

Rado watches, and some others, are made out of ceramics (some models are tungsten), it does a good impersonation of a particularly shiny metal until you manage to break it, which takes some doing.

I don't recall seeing any mention of a glass back, ceramic, gorilla or otherwise.

The SoC in the SGS3 supposedly has the LTE modem built into it, doesn't mean that it can't have a separate radio chip onboard to handle GSM/WCDMA. Restricting it to LTE given how little market penetration it has would be retail suicide.

HTC are supposedly releasing bootloader unlocking tools for all current, and forthcoming models though aren't they?

Neither! if it looks like this, then I'll have trouble not purchasing it. The One X looks damn good with it's unibody design too
