shadybrothers: Weren't they on a pre-order status anyway? What were you complaining about?

I was complaining about the fact that some pre-orders were filled before others, despite having been placed later. I was civil and restrained, but I am still glad that I did make noise, because the issue was addressed.

So no one is stocking the 8GB version in NZ at the moment?

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

The 16GB model is for retailers, the 8GB model is only available online in the play store. But not in NZ where it staill says: Sorry! Devices on Google Play is not available in your country yet. We're working to bring devices to more countries as quickly as possible. Please check back again soon.

Christchurch for me.

Good luck. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

Which store was yours ordered with?  Mine was with NL Riccarton, or at least that's the store I said I wanted to collect from.  The pre-order was made online.  Cheers.

I just picked mine up this arvo, signed into the play store and went to buy an app and was only given the choice of using credit card.  No mention of a credit anywhere.

Maybe i'm doing it wrong tho.

I got mine from NL Northwood.  I pre-ordered in the store though, not online.

I begin to suspect that only regions with 'enhanced' Google services access like the UK and US are getting the nice little Play Store credit... If so that is rather poor since we're paying a lot more here for a less capable device...

In that regard the Huawei Media Pad is a much better deal at $250

I just rang The Warehouse and she found the full specs for the Huawei Mediapad, definitely running Honeycomb

AFAIK a "test" version of ICS (for us, not our mums) was released a month or so ago, you can find it here
