Love the phone. Size and weight is taking some getting used to, but I'll get there. The only real gripe I have is device volume - it sucks - notifications are way too quiet. Considering it has stereo on front, it's pretty disappointing - any one else find this?

I agree, although doesn't affect me much as I normally use a fairly low notification volume to avoid disturbing others, especially at work.

There's actually a mod you can apply to force the phone to use both speakers, but it does require you to unlock the bootloader or root the phone. Which by the way a root exploit has recently been released so you can root your phone without unlocking it, keeping your warranty.

Ordered my Z2 off the sony.co.nz website, it is a great handset but sadly they shipped the Australian version sbiddle mentioned earlier so no firmware updates or HD voice. :(

Interestingly there is no way to get in touch with the Sony online shop other than writing a physical letter or posting to their Facebook page. All phone numbers on the website and invoice just lead to a Xperia tech support call centre (in Australia I think?). I spoke to 3 x agents over as many calls who were happy to confirm the IMEI is Australian and reckon that they often ship these in NZ instead.

All 3 of them seem to have decided to take the piss... They say this is normal and I should in fact be grateful that I have the Australian version as (one went so far as to say "obviously") the Australian firmware (17.1.A.2.55) is months newer than the NZ versions and they normally get calls from people wanting to remove their NZ firmware and load Australian firmware.

Funny stories aside, they finally said they can't help and to contact a service agent.

Sony service has been extremely poor in the past - with going back and forth between Australia / NZ - and different departments. Never ended up getting anything done - and decision made to never buy their products again. Also their firmware updates are of poor quality (especially for Xperia Z and Z tablet) compared to even Samsung (and these updates are too slow). Only thing that I have from Sony that is currently working without trouble is their NEX camera - but then they are busy making the next model and don't care about any firmware updates to improve the hardware produced.

I know it's not directly directed at Z2 - but for above reasons, I will not touch Sony products. Companies really need to learn that they need on going software updates on their older products if they want to sell more hardware in the future. Apple in that regards doing fantastic job. I can't believe my old iPad 2 is getting another iOS update. iOS 7 works smoothly on it.

I'm thinking of ditching the Sony flip case and going with a naked Z2. Nearly fell over when Sony store quoted $35 for a plastic screen protector! Anyone successfully sourced a reasonably priced third party protector? If so, from where? cheers

I got a $10 one from Ebay. Tempered glass front. It came with a normal back one but I still use the case so I didn't use it

Ok, today I wirelessly downloaded two video files from my NAS to internal storage/movies on my phone. I have a Synology Diskstation and I transferred the files using the DS file app on my Z2. After transfer, the files were visible in internal storage when using the File Commander app that came with the phone, yet when I connected the phone to my PC via USB, the movies folder showed empty in Windows Explorer? Using file commander on the phone, I transferred the two files to the SD card in the phone, after which they were visible in Windows Explorer on the PC?

Not a biggie, but i would be curious to know why when connected via USB, the internal storage/movies folder was showing empty in windows explorer when clearly it wasn't?

Just came home today with a new Z2 from Vodafone. (I really wanted the Z1 compact but you cant always get what you want!)
The phone appears to have charged itself in less time than it has taken me to read this thread!
I've ordered a DK36 dock from Ascent, I hope thats the right one.
I find it confusing sorting between the accessories for the Xperia Z2 tablet and the Xperia Z2 phone.
I would like to get a screen protector, could someone please recommend a good one.
I'm not sure about getting a case though.
On my last phone i just had a screen protector and a thing that just clipped on the back to keep that safe.
Are those flip cases a nuisance?

So anyway, the light is green, which is my cue to go play!

I've just ditched the sony flip case and gone with a naked slab Z2. The case added to much bulk for my liking, I'm much preferring the naked phone. Will keep the case for viewing movies etc.

I ordered screen protectors from Trade Me. Great deal - I got two sets (front and back) for $7 delivered!

I never use cases anymore, it defeats the whole purpose of the phone design. I currently have a carbon fibre skin for my Z1 Compact. The skin is cut out for all the parts of the phone including the sides and back. Once on it looks awesome and provides adequate protection, if you want to sell your phone you just peel the skin off and it looks brand new again.

I bought Skinomi ones for my Z1 Compact but theres Z2 ones on Amazon.

I normally use nzpost youshop service to ship stuff from amazon but I was able to ship them directly to NZ from Skinomi Amazon provider. It takes a bit of time to line it up perfect but its worth it. I ended up buying two just in case I stuffed it up but its easy enough to remove and realign again. You can also buy rear screen protectors for it instead of using these skins but the metal sides will be exposed.

My WiFi issue has reared its ugly head again. From searching 'Xperia Z2 WiFi Problem' on Google, now that the phone has been out for a while I can see I'm not the only one. I'll be aiming for a refund as this is the second Z phone that's screwed up on me this year. Not sure where I'll head next.

Does this case allow the phone to dock with the case on? I've got one of the "Made for Xperia" Roxfit Gel case which doesn't fit! GRRR makes me wonder why they call it "Made for xperia" and its sony licensed so they should know better... *mutters*

But yeah I've had this phone since release and i love it. I've had no issues apart from it coming up with an Overheating issue while recording in 4k. Also managed to root it successfully without unlocking the bootloader unlocking some pretty cool customization features when you get exposed and download a few of the modules there.
