dead link. Got any others? Not trying to be a pain, just want some more sources other than the ones I've found as this is something that interests me, thanks.

No probs, thanks for pointing out. I have updated post with link again. Not the best video but for the technical purpose, I guess the methodology and results of the test is what matters. The results I shared in the earlier post is the final result after the test.

So the order status has moved from "Processing" to "Preparing Dispatch" - finally after 11 days!

Thanks, it looks like he also does a screen brightness test during this battery life test but the glare prevents us from being able to read the meter and I don't understand Korean. It would be nice to know what his results were because I also came across this:

Note how the S22 Ultra has a lower screen brightness compared to the S22 which would appear to go against Samsungs marketing material and that high 1750nits of peak brightness they advertise. So I did some googling the other day and found that peak brightness is ambiguous because with AMOLED's the fewer the pixels lit the higher the brightness, and that according to someone who looked at the documentation, Samsung uses a "white window" of 1%. A 1% white window is a box of white pixels equal to 1% of the total, in other words 99% of the screen is off and only 1% is lit. Apparently a 1% white window is a standard way of measuring peak brightness adopted by most manufacturers, but it is also a marketing tool (aka marketing BS) that is not reflective of real world usage - no one looks at a screen where only 1% of the pixels are lit. In the screen shot above, the test is based on a 100% white window which is also not real world usage because who looks at a pure white screen but the results would imply that the standard S22 probably isn't getting a less bright screen under real world usage. It appears "white window" is also known as "APL", ie 1% white window is the same as 1% APL - here is an Anandtech tech explanation of the issue for anyone interested. They believe 80% APL (80% white window) would be a more realistic measurement of real world usage.

I watched some of that video live but then fell asleep. But from memory, chatting to Koreans (translating using Google) I asked what he was doing to calculate brightness, someone asnwered that the device he had where he put the phone on face flat, its measuring and he was adjusting all the devices to have the same brightness level ignoring what in-phone brightness settings.

This apparently ensures the test is standardised in terms of brightness.

I guess he was trying to create an even playing field.

Also just checked my two orders, both with dates 24/02/22, both still showing as processing, guess Samsung are working their way through the backlog of pre-orders.

Yea, after watching that and few other random videos, my battery concerns are no longer there. There are few posts on reddit as well where the Exynos base S22 been getting 7+ hours SOT which IMO is a lot for good usage including 4G/5G etc. Once more people get the SD variants, there will be more battery usage results coming out.

https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s22_refresh_rate_explained-news-53216.php

Am interesting read in the refresh rates situation.

It seems like the base models(well the plus one at least) was originally over sold but is now under sold on its adaptive refresh rate with it reducing to 24hz at times. While the ultra is being touted as 1hz but I'm reality very rarely goes that low. Overall seems like, on the pre production software at least, it's not such a big difference between all the models even with the ltpo display in the ultra.

In saying that, the estore sent me a screenshot of the order status on their internal system and it said "shipping requested" like a week ago.

Also, according to their system I managed to squeeze in to the Feb 10th order (thanks to time difference I guess).

I have cases and stuff included in my order from the 10th, so I hope they are all available, otherwise if they are delayed, that may delay the delivery of the phone?

Otherwise they should send any accessories that are delayed, out seperately

Mine still says processing but I've had it reaffirmed from management it's definitely cancelled. They won't answer the question I have of how on earth am I meant to know that when it says processing and I haven't had any emails saying otherwise.

I actually have a silicone case and ear buds on the side at home sealed from my backup in store order I placed at the weekend. Weirdly the Samsung shops have all the accessories in stock just no phones. When you place a preorder you leave with the case there and then.
