m2geek:

I had something interesting turn up in my Google One app overnight.

A New Zealand-Only $7 Google Play account credit, in place of the Google One VPN (which they took off me in February).

Wonder if this is also another sign towards Google actually setting up "Shop" in New Zealand and selling us Handsets/Tablets directly like Aussie.

I never got my VPN work before, can you advise how to apply for the credit or get VPN work?

Hopefully, there is official support in NZ soon.

Just open the google One app and it should be there in the benefits tab.

Wi-Fi calling by September (next feature drop)? That would be amazing.

Purchased a 7 pro last week when I was in Oz. Incredible phone.

Noticed today when back in NZ I have 5G which I wasn't expecting. I'm on Vodafone.

Im not on beta releases just standard OTA.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to connect to a 6ghz wifi network?

I've purchased a Deco XE75 mesh wifi in a PBTech sale some time ago but haven't been able to get the pixel 7 to see the 6ghz band.  I did do a firmware flash to get rid of the camera shutter sound on the Japan variant I received but not sure if that would be an issue.

Not an issue really as the connection is always good. But you know if you have something available it would be nice to know if it works.

Since the latest update, I've been noticing my Pixel 7 Pro refuses to charge wirelessly. I've had issues of it of it being too warm to charge before - particularly while sitting on the dash of my car - but in this scenario the Pixel is stone-cold.

If I reboot, it starts detecting the wireless charger again. But the Battery percentage continues to go down (it appears to accelerate discharging).

Is anyone else having this issue? Any fixes?

I note that Wireless Power sharing won't turn on anymore, too.

No I haven't encountered this - this sounds like a hardware fault sadly.

It has now ceased to detect the Wireless Charger, even after a reboot :(

Safe Mode is a no-go too.

Does anyone have experience getting repairs done for a Pixel they bought in Australia? Any tips?

Where did you buy it from? I'd ring them and just explain what's happened and see if you can't just post it back as a return.

Then get the new/replaced/repaired phone shipped to whatever that NZ Post forwarding service is called, YouForward or YouShoe or something?

Will cost a bit, but that's the breaks when we buy a phone in another country :-(

[I'm lucky in that my father who lives in Aus bought mine so I can use him as a go between - Hopefully I don't have to]

Unfortunately mine was a gift from a friend who was passing through Australia on her way to New Zealand. It was bought from a random JBHiFi.

It kind of sounds like I'm screwed. :(

Why don't you ring the JBHiFi store and talk to them before giving up??

I would call JBHiFi NZ first.

In the past they allowed me to return a Pixel 2 bought from Sydney Airport, because "not happy with it" :D
