Pixel 7 is Amazon US for USD 449 with free delivery at the moment. Is it worth pulling the trigger now that most features are working?

That's not a bad deal. I'm waiting for the Pixel 8 which I'm hoping will be available in October, then waiting for the the brave first people who order it to see if it works in NZ.

Of course it will work in NZ lol.
Chances are we may even see it on sale here domestically.

I'm waiting to see if it's works easily without a bunch of work. For example, I read in one thread that to get something working (was it VoLTE?) you had to apply a patch after every update? I'm not wanting to mess around with things like that.

Im doing similar but mainly because of the fingerprint sensor issues in current gen.

I have an Aussie P7P, it worked out of the box and things like VoLTE and recently 5G have worked once Google/Spark did whatever to make it work. I haven't once had to haxxpatched anything to make anything work.

Every in-screen fingerprint sensor is significantly inferior to the hardware sensor on my Pixel 4a. The 4a sensor seems to reads the fingerprint the instant you touch it. The in screen readers on the Samsung S22 series, which is meant to be pretty good, takes about 0.5 - 1 second, which when you're used to instant is annoyingly long and annoyingly placed.
I really wish they hadn't removed hardware fingerprint readers.

My Poco F3 had a power-button fingerprint sensor that was SO sensitive and fast that just holding the phone in your hand or brushing your finger on it in your pocket/bag etc it'd unlock lol.
I prefer the slightly slower P7P under screen one.
I think my favourite sensor placement was the Nexus 5X or the Galaxy Note 9 I also had.

Yup I agree.
Had a nexus 5x and currently a Xiaomi MiA2 running LinageOS and fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. I don't mind a slight delay as long as its accurate.

The Only time my P7P has fingerprint scanner issues is in direct sunlight on a Sunny day - and frankly I can understand why lol - I can't see shit either on a day like that (Light-sensitive ND person) lol. I am going to re-do one of my thumb scans however, it's a bit wonky so sometimes That doesn't read right but that's My fault for having long nails at the time when I set it up haha.
It seems like once every quater for the past while google has been giving us something.
In March we got native volte on spark and vodafone.
In June we got working 5G on all the telcos along with 4G calling on 2degrees
In Septemeber it seems like we will get native Wifi calling.
So continuing with that it seems like we might get domestic sale of devices around the new year.
It wouldn't be that suprising considering Google has been taking strides to make the devices work properly in this county and they accnolaged that pixels exist in new zealand on this page https://pixel.withgoogle.com/5G/.
I mean its about time consdering the OG Pixel was "Coming soon" 8 years ago. But I guess they are operating on valve time.

It Definitely feels like they're going to launch here with the next handset, all the ducks in a row feeling.
All I'm missing is the VPN access I once had but they took away once I Paid for my Google One sub lol.
GoogleGeek88: Beta 5 is out today and includes a fix for...
"Fixed an issue where voice over Wi-Fi wasn't enabled by default."
Will update once I make a call maybe haha
Updated to beta5 and I can confirm that wifi calls are actually working on Spark.
I would not keep the wifi calls as default as it can behave quite badly if you try and make or receive a call as you are leaving the wifi coverage ...
One annoying thing is that chromecasting the whole screen stopped working. Chromecasting from apps still working tho.
Opened a bug report and hope they will fix it before release, unless I'm the only one affected :)

I think having vowifi is only really usefull to have it on incase the towers goes down as a layer of reduncnecy or if your on One or 2degg where you can roam overseas and use your nz minutes and texts as if your wernt roaming but apart from that its not really usefull.
I think when I get it nativly I think i'll just leave it on call on mobile network so it will drop down to wifi calling if there is no service at my location which seems unlikey considering there are like 6 towers within line of sight to my house.
