Any tips on where to get Pixel 6 Pro cases and screen protectors.

I ordered from www.mobilefun.co.nz only to find that they are a front for www.mobilefun.co.uk - still waiting.

Got a cheap and nasty clear hard case and crappy film screen protector from Amazon AU, and then ordered a Caseology Vault from Amazon US. The former two have already arrived, and I suspect the latter will arrive before MA ship my Pro.

I hate Amazon but they do have ridiculously fast shipping, and user feedback overwhelmingly states these phones are slippery, and fragile - not keen to take that chance.

Probably order a dBrand Grip case when they become available/Xmas madness has subsided, and perhaps a LOCA UV TGSP screen protector once the XDA massive have figured out the best, reasonably priced alternative to a Whitestone Dome

I am really tempted to get the 6 or 5a... Maybe even shipping from US with Black Friday pricing because ends up still being hundreds of dollars cheaper as warranty with these other companies often tend to be an uphill battle.

Like realistically there is never a point when I really need 5G speeds for anything especially in areas which would already have access to city wifi and other things.

Do you think eventually these carrier will enable the Volte etc ?

One thing I like about Google is stock android experience and that the phones are designed for that. Also you pretty much get OS and security updates before most other phone manufacturers which in a way makes it worth forgoing 5g for.

Anyone order their phone directly from the Google US store and used a service like YouShop to get theirs?

I'm quite keen to grab a 5a myself, but the more I read the harder it seems.

It looks to only be released in the US and Japan. Basically allll the imported 5a's look to be Japanese, the issue with those is they reportedly have a permanent camera shutter noise which you can't disable without considerable difficulty due to Japanese rules. That may not bother you but I'd be buying for my other half and I expect it would be quite annoying when we're accustomed to it being silent. Very few retailers seem to be identifying this anywhere so I'd be careful around that if it is a deal breaker, I've struggled to find definitive confirmation of this but on the balance of evidence I do have, I wouldn't risk it.

So you'd definitely want a US 5a, which are only sold through the Google store at this stage. Google are notorious for cancelling non-US credit card orders as far as I understand.

There's places like myus who offer a concierge service and I've toyed with trying that but it seems like a fair bit of mucking round.

It sounds like Google US are cutting $50 off for black Friday though, so maybe I'll revisit then. Would love to know your approach if you do pull the trigger, the handset itself is right in the sweet spot for what I'm looking for, just a shame it's so hard to get!

Yeah I did notice that Black Friday deal but also noticed that you can order it off Amazon that does ship to New Zealand but seems to be the "International version" and sells at a higher price.

The advantage of getting it through Amazon US is the GST should already be applied and because it is below the customs duty levy it wouldn't attract any additional charges.

I was unaware that they cancel foreign credit cards, I will definitely do some more research into this and see the best way to approach this.

Yeah the Amazon option is attractive from the tax hassle standpoint for sure. I did look at that too but I strongly suspect it's the Japanese version - "international" in the context of Amazon being non-US, which only leaves Japan as this was the only other release country I believe. Again if you don't mind that shutter issue it could be an easy option.

I'll keep an eye out for any tidy way to go about getting a US model though!

My order from Youshop through Amazon US is being processed in NZ now, should be arriving next couple of days.

You guys are hardcore Pixel fans! 😃 All power to you, and genuinely hope it does eventually get some 5G love soon.

As for me I've checked out and will be waiting for Sammy's S22 Ultra in Jan.

I have ordered way too many skins for my Pixel 6 (not pro) from Dbrand and Xtreamskins (UK) - both due soon.

If anyone needs a skin or two in matte black or matte white let me know :)

Now tempted to order a Belroy case as well, has anyone tried them? are they good?

I got a Belroy card Case for my partner's iPhone 12 Pro. They're nice and not that it bothers her, but if it's in the case it can't make a proper connection for wireless charging.

Oof be careful there, I notice if you add the 1199 one to cart (and only have that one item in the cart) it says the total price is "incl. GST".

If you do the same with the 1230 one, it just says Total with no mention of GST. So there could be a nasty surprise there potentially?

Going to wait for Black Friday, if it is anything like the previous few years, both the Flagship and the cheaper versions go on sale at most US retailers.
