Wife has a 23 Ultra.

Has anyone succeeded in getting an S23 generation to talk to a recent VW Group car ?

My older Sammy works well in our new 2024 Skoda - to connect via USB for Android Auto for on-dash nav.
Wife's S23 ultra won't have a bar of it.
Works fine with Bluetooth - for music. But no Android Auto via USB - so no nav.

It seems a widely known problem for VW Group cars - and there is rejoicing (in some corners of the internet) that the solution has finally arrived (a firmware upgrade - v 1800 - for the entertainment stack, I believe). That rejoicing was in November 2023 - some 4+ months ago.

The sales manager at Skoda today told me - with a perfectly straight face - that we must be the first combination of S23 & VW/Skoda on Auckland's North Shore. (And hence the first who could have experienced the problem). He suggested that most North Auckland people seemed to use iPhones. Which, of course, might possibly be true...

Anyone in NZ been down this road ?

That's a salesman I wouldn't wanna get involved with.

So does he know what coffee north Auckland people drink too?

Anyway, update your March security patch folks.

SamMobile predicted it would be available this month. Not sure if that's still the case since we just had a security update released, but it can't be too far away.

>> S23 Ultra / Android Auto & VW Group/ Skoda compatibility

Just to answer my own question, Skoda yesterday upgraded the car to v1800 firmware and now the S23 Ultra plays nicely with it. All on-screen Nav and voice commands work.

Apparently, no one else with a recent VW Group car has ever noticed (or moaned about it) ...
