networkn: own3d: There isn't any real discussion as yet as I believe the ROM's currently on offer don't rival the stability and speed of the SII ROM's. The SIII is still relatively new and most people I see commenting here are running rooted but stock roms and kernels.

A more active discussion on the custom roms would likely be better on XDA presently I would think.

I'm using Omega which is stock based and very stable

I don't like stock, I want as close to ASOP as possible :)
Stock looks too childish for me, however I do like the camera on it. (Since heard of a better camera that unlocks the full bitrate) Wonder if that works with SuperNexus/CM10
Then you have all the different kernals
We do need our own thread why is everyone against starting a new one haha

You could try using a stock based rom and flashing an ICS style theme. If you use Nova Launcher it's very similar to AOSP

I use to run CM9 on my SII don't really like the idea of flashing a theme, but maybe that's an idea?
Any howto's anywhere or is this installing one of those dodgy app's that 'try' to theme the samsung rom

I used a theme app once but it made everything sluggish so never did again. Used Jkay's a lot on S2 and got used to it, had no issues. Generally go with a rom that has themes already and you won't have many issues, Omega is good but on S2 it was a bit sluggish, S3 seems a bit the same so I've gone back to foxhound.

JB isn't that stable yet so I'll wait till Samsung release JB which looks like end of month then the roms will roll out.

Feel free to start a thread, those that don't want to participate don't have to and a lot won't go custom anyway.

There is this thread that you could use http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=103279 but maybe starting a ROM thread would be a better idea.

I just installed CheckROM 4 and I am pretty happy. Better still it's a non wipe ROM!

Seen on Twitter tonight that Jelly Bean is rumoured to be released for S3 as soon as 29th August, just waiting for google certification... Second story i have read suggesting certification is holding back release so heres hoping JB is jsut around the corner!!

DoggNZ: Hmmm. I just downloaded the firmware update for 2 Degrees but couldn't install due to low battery. Probably not a big deal if I did anyway as I'm just using the balance up on my old card first. I actually got my Snapper SIM on Monday so no idea if it's the "v2" or not. Any way of knowing?

In other news...mmmmmm...32GB model with 64GB MicroSD Smile

And hating you lol

Where did you get the SD card?

Bond and Bond of all places Laughing Could have got it overseas but couldn't be bothered with the hassle (after waiting 3 weeks for the phone)

Actually, on the subject of SD cards. On the S2, it mounted the external SD card under the internal SD card e.g \mnt\sdcard\extSDcard but it doesn't do this on the S3. Any way of making that happen?

S3 its now /mnt/extSdCard (unless thats a samsung ROM thing?)
Maybe you need to create a symlink from /mnt/sdcard call it extSdCard and point it to /mnt/extSdCard ?

Well I moved to CheckROM 4 last night and for fits and giggles, I have not charged it since, and in 9 hours I have dropped 4% overnight, which is about 1/2 to 1/3 of what was happening before. Encouraging.

Reason I was asking was the SD card tester I was using defaulted to\mnt\sdcard and since extsdcard wasn't "under" that path, I couldn't select it. Tried another card tester and it allows me to go "up" and select \mnt\extsdcard so all good. I noticed the results are right on the Class 10 threshold....I guess that's ok?
