Android authority comparison shows clear winner with Note 5. http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-6p-vs-samsung-galaxy-note-5-655708/
(without OIS nexus 6p can never be as good as galaxy range camera with OIS!)
Those who sang praises on nexus 6p actually compare the camera with the previous nexus devices. A big jump for camera quality in comparison to prior nexus(es) family. Just look at these two comparison for low light:

The car charger on sale on the website apparently doesn't charge the 6p at 3A according to reviews on Amazon. Can you confirm?

I have not found a reliable app to test but I think 3A is the ideal output. It maybe hard to get that point due to the cable length, etc.

networkn: Ok I like the new phone, however there are some things that are driving me crazy and I am too busy to spent a lot of time working on them right now.
There is no inbuilt mail app like there was with my galaxy so I downloaded nine. It says it will sync calendar and contacts but it doesn't appear the contacts are in my contacts list. Email is syncing ok.
I do love the fingerprint scanner, best thing.
Screenshots don't go to the gallery app, so I don't know where to find them after a few minutes, they aren't in the pictures app either.
I thought my Galaxy s6 was laggy but this phone isn't coping with Hay Day or Clash of Clans nearly as well.
I may switch back if I can't get the software to work the way I like it a little better, accepting expressions of interest on a 5 day old Nexus 6P 32GB Aluminium bought in Australia.

The reviews seem to suggest that it doesn't charge at 3A. I've ordered one and will check, otherwise will probably return it.

Looks like you don't know much about photography. OIS IS NOT going to help you in 90% of real world photography. It's a great feature for hand-held landscape photo in low light. But it will not let you take better photos of your kids or pets. It does not help when taking pictures of documents lying on the floor or desk. It can destroy your pannig photo attempt, it drains your battery faster and finally it can break - rendering your camera completely useless (happened to me before).
The difference (grainy and unsaturated N6P picture) visible in the photographs you have pointed to DOES NOT come from OIS. Both phones are clearly resting on the table - hence no need for OIS.
Reading the EXIF info from the original article pictures you can clearly see that N6P is shooting with 2x faster shutter speed (1/15), compensating with ISO of... 2722! This is compared to Note 5 taking picture with shutter speed of 1/7 at ISO of... 1000! You CANNOT COMPARE quality of the camera based on such different settings.
Moreover all N6 pictures in the above review are CROPPED from 4:3. ALL pictures are resized. This is not a proper comparison test at all.
If you want to compare the quality of camera choose different picture with similar or same shutter speeds. Check the "Vase on display" pic (it is still difficult to draw any conclusions due to cropping and resize).
I have posted this before, but clearly you've missed this. Please have an honest and unbiased look at the pictures in below articles and make up your own mind once again.

Check out the kids shots - which one would you prefer in your family album?
