which image do you prefer? the left of the right? and which phone do you think took each photo?

One is taken on S10 in live focus mode, the other taken on P30 in portrait mode

Overall the left.
The right has better colours, but only the centre is in focus.

Nearly all of left is in focus

as stated, each was shot using either live focus or portrait mode. The purpose of each is to seperate the subject from the background by defocusing the background, this is done in software to emulate the effect that a fast lens with a wide aperture on a DSLR can do. commonly called bokeh. So the subject should be in focus while the background should be out of focus.

Did everyone ordered from Noel Leeming receiving their phone yet?

Recieved text from NL yesterday and picked up.By the sounds of it you haven't got your phone yet just give them a call and see if it's ready to pick up.

No I havnt ordered yet, Im stuck between the p30 pro and the s10e which is flat and small and how all phones should be. Ive seen sooo many reviews, with google app on S10e, night mode isnt a HUGE deal breaker, but if you really really need 5x zoom thats what i would buy it for.

Noel leeming and 2 degrees, $100 less on 2 degrees order but same deal. https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/phones-and-gps/mobile-phones/huawei-p30problack-p30-pro-smartphone-black/prod174930.html

Conversely if you want your phone to have stabilised video, no comparison s10e, however if you can handle the detail drop 1080p stabilisation on the p30 seems to work.

As for the cat photo I would go left.

i think portrait and live focus would give the samsung more seperation. regardless the samsung looks way better.

Much prefer the left. The fake bokeh on the right is horrible.

Saying that it isn't a good example to demonstrate bokeh - having a sky in the background isn't really how it's meant to be used.

Sorry I don't understand your comment. Samsung's Live focus is the equivalent of Huawei's Portrait mode. Each one should be able to defocus the foreground or background comparative to the subject. Also, I haven't stated which phone took what picture. So which one do you think is the samsung picture?

Who else is still waiting for theirs? I was the last person to order in PB Tech Henderson on Thursday. Tried my luck on Friday since some people had had success going into PB Tech even without receiving a message (like with Noel Leeming) but the person checked and said it wasn't ready. (She did remember me from Thursday 😛.) She said it might be arriving today but no message so didn't bother to test.

What do you guys think of this portrait. Taken this afternoon. Looks quite classic. Nice clear subject with well defined background blurr

Nice! It doesn't seem to have the fake blur effect that most phones have. It actually looks quite natural.

Yup thats my thoughts. Not overly exaggerated colourwise and clear subject. Just to confirm straight out of the phone and no post editing

What's with the Google feed missing on my hand set (first screen) and replaced with "HIBAORD"?

I want the Google feed I don't think there's a way to enable it?
