Picked up a HTC One M8 as an upgrade to my iPhone 5S - everything going well so far however it still says 'Telecom NZ' on the screen after unlocking. I assume the whole 'Telecom NZ' is related to the simcard? replacing it with a newer sim card would make it display Spark on the screen?

It is related to the sim card, and a new one *may* fix it (depending how new the new one is).  An OTA update should fix it soon regardless.

Anyone interested on the updated M8? Codenamed the Eye.

13MP camera and apparently 5.2" screen.

Would be nice if they threw in the new 805 processor too.

The camera was really the only thing stopping me trying this phone, so if the 13MP proves to be up there with the best, I might consider getting it instead of the Note 4.

Other than the camera and possibly the screen size, the remaining specs such as CPU and screen resolution are apparently the same as the M8, plus I only bought the M8 3 months ago, I doubt the wife will let me upgrade this soon, so might skip it.

Also according to the leak, it might only be available in India and China when it is released. Hopefully this is not true but that's the rumour.

Apparently it is only being launched in India/China (HTC seems to be more focused on Asia-Pacific due to the growth potential) - I wouldn't be surprised if the net result is just a camera upgrade and some software update because the biggest complaint has been around the whole megapixels issue which I'm sure HTC is keen to address especially if all it means is keeping 99% of what they have and just replacing the camera itself.

So sounds like the HTC Butterfly 2 with the premium materials really doesn't it.

Here is the place where I got the rumor from:

http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-m8_eye-october-530930/

Given how tight fincaces are at HTC I'd probably guess it'll be a pretty converservative build.

Threw an extra 64GB microsd card in and everything is working well; will keep the 16GB internal storage for applications and throw my music collection on the sdcard. I was tempted to get a 128GB sdcard but at this moment it would be a bit of an overkill for what I want. On a good side HTC Sync Manager is going really well - 64bit, fast, reliable and snappy when it comes to sorting through 200GB of music from my iTunes collection. Oh, and synchronising with Google (email, bookmarks, passwords) seem to be a lot more reliable than iCloud.

I am mostly liking my M8. The dialer is terrible though. Why oh why did they put the hang up red button on the left. The samsung dialler is 100x better.

I would switch to another dialler but I don't want anything to happen the the fonts etc.

On the left? the dialer I've got on my HTC One M8 is in the middle at the bottom of the screen.

Rumours of new HTC handsets just keep coming, this time around HTC One M8 Life (One Max 2?):

http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/09/rumor-htc-one-max-sport-5-5-2k-display-3gb-ram-snapdragon-805-chip.html

Impressive specs, I am actually looking forward to this being announced.

Camera sounds awesome. Shame about the screen size though given the One Max was 6". The battery also seems a little on the light side?

Definitely one to keep an eye out for.

I wouldn't mind the screen size, it'd be an upgrade for me, going from 5" to 5.5" with QHD resolution, whereas the original One Max even though it was 6" but resolution only HD.

HTC have done a great job with the M8's battery life, so I think 3000mAh should be ok even if it is with a QHD screen. Let's hope they will have a thin bezel and none of that on screen buttons taking up screen resolution.

if these specs hold true and the battery life proves a winner (along with the 18mp camera) I would purchase this over the Note 4 for what will hopefully be a superior build quality.

Anyone know how I can restore the factory lock screen? Google did a sync and installed a third party lock screen and now after I removed it I have something different to what was there when I got the device?
