Looks like the new HTC One M8 (2014) is going to be announced very shortly. The launch event will be streamed live here:
http://www.htc.com/nz/go/launch/

there have also been a few leaked videos including this one: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/03/23/new-htc-one-m8-makes-another-appearance-in-14-minute-german-hands-on-video-before-its-official-announcement/
(the Youtube is gone, however there is a mirror)

Who is going to get one?

I was wondering when this thread was going to be created.

I wondered what is left to announce after all these leaks? A confirmation from HTC that what you have seen and heard so far in the leaks are correct? LOL!!

On a more serious note though, I am considering the M8 & Z2.

Why did they mess with the design so much, the current HTC One is beautiful, this one looks like a KIRF

What don't you like about it? I think the metal colour looks a bit nicer than the one, although not sure if I like the rounded edges.

I am not entirely sure but it sounded like it might have a Micro SD slot which is good.

Guess the only thing left to confirm the dual camera, how it will work, pixels etc.

Hopefully better than the joke that was the 4UP on the original One.

Yeah the camera on the HTC One is a bit meh and also has a problem with purple tinting on a lot of them. From what I have seen it looks like the new camera isn't much better and the dual camera appears to just add functionality related to multiple focus points - kinda like a Lytro camera.

Is the announcement going to be at 3AM tomorrow morning? Anyone staying up to watch the live streaming?

I don't mind the design, the metallic back looks beautiful.

Micro sd expansion will definitely be a welcome addition. My gripe on the M7 was the lack of expansion.

One of the parts that made the design beautiful was its symmetry, the new One has no symmetry.  The HTC screen bezel now has no purpose (good design has all parts of the design having a function).  The current HTC One is as close as you get to good android industrial design in my opinion.

I think 5am since it is 18hrs 45 minutes from now (10.15am) so will watch it when I wake up at 7am.

Boy HTC love shooting themselves in the foot. The camera alone is enough for me to instantly remove this from my next phone to buy list. The camera last year was rubbish, do they upgrade? Change it? Nope, they keep it the same and instead add a rather gimmicky depth camera.

IDIOTS.

Not so keen on the rounded shoulders or that the upper speaker grill is offset, both are a retrograde step from the One.0.
What I do like about the One.1 is the expandable storage, the larger battery, camera refocusing and better front facing camera.
My phone isn't my primary shooter so the One.0 camera suits my purpose and therefore any incremental improvement in the One.1 is okay.
I don't particularly like the gunmetal finish so hopefully there will be other options available here.

Will I get one? Maybe, but not straight away.

Edit: Just watched a video of the One.1 submerged in water for half an hour and still working fine.

From early reviews it sounds like a brilliant phone, great specs etc. But is let down by the camera, can't understand the removal of OIS.

Why did they feel the need to leave such a massive bezel?

At least it has a micro SD slot I guess.  But that camera and bezel puts me off big time.

Apparently due to the boom sound
