DANOFDANGER: Well iv confirmed the keyboard issue is not isolated and is likely software. Went to two stores and tried the phones, both gave the same repeated key entry and scrolling problem. The home key however was tactile and responsive, mine wasnt so back it went today for a replacement.
People on xda forums were also mentioning keyboard problems of similar or exact issue, switching keyboard apps resolved for some.
Id say the repeated key entry issue is possible on every phone but not everyone is noticing it or they are not pressuring the keyboard and screen with the same conditions i do. I am very heavy end user and type as fast as 50 or more words per minute.

The only issue i have is when txting etc i seem to always press the wrong letters and end up with a lot of errors. I put it down to not being used to the closeness of the keys on the keyboard as I'm used to using the note 5 which the keyboard is a bit wider...

Blardy typos, thought I got them all =P

Not sure, but "repeated key entry and scrolling problem" sounds a lot like what I was experiencing when I tried chatting with the Spark techs using their website chat window. I haven't noticed it anywhere else, but I'm not as much of a keyboard warrior as you are :). FWIW, if anyone else is having this problem, note that you can change the keyboard size under Settings -> General management -> Language and input -> Samsung keyboard -> Keyboard layout. It won't fix a bug, but it might help. Also, using an alternate keyboard might be an option, I've heard good things about SwiftKey, but I've been getting along OK with the Samsung keyboards so far. Good if it's a software problem - they'll be able to fix it with an update soon.

Also, about the customer service problem I posted about: tried the website chat yet again on Sunday afternoon (after trying FB in the morning - didn't see their reply until after) and got a different CS rep, who quickly figured out what the problem was, and solved it. It was a bit too late, and I wondered why neither of the people I'd spoken with before did the same thing. Still angry, but changing carriers would be a headache, so thinking about options.Thanks for the replies.

Well after being a 5 year iPhone user I have got myself a Note 7, its pretty flash and already found a few "why doesn't the iphone do this" things?

On the iPhone myself and my otherhalf use the "Find my Friends" app, is there an Android equivalent of this?

the 3 things from my old iPhone days that i miss... iMessage, silent button and find friends.

this is really the only descent alternative i could find. Life360

Note 7 crashed while I was taking a picture, then the screen went black, moments later it's stuck in a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 boot logo. Can't even turn off the device.

I took it in to a Spark store and they couldn't help me at all, told me to let the battery drain dry and go back to them later, no doubt this phone would have more than 40 hours idle time. Great, I'm locked out of my phone for 2 days.

Such a downgrade in terms of reliability compared to any iPhones I've used in the past.

you normally do this when the device is turned off but i used it when my Note 4 used to bootloop.

Press and hold the Power key, the Volume up key, and the Home button together. Release when you see the Samsung logo. You can select the option you want from the menu using the Volume keys to highlight and the Power key to select.

i've had... power buttons, home buttons, volume buttons, software hard failures, vibration module, camera modules and all sorts fail on previous iPhones... all phones have their issues.

The failsafe keys should be power button and volume down for at least 10 seconds or more. This was anticipated and rectified from the s7 series when they designed the non removable cover.
If it still does not work then its likely a flaw in design or another key combination is required. I highly doubt they never implemented the failsafe though, it should work.

Thanks that worked. Now my phone actually boops up into Android home screen, but as soon as I open Photos (google photo app I assume), the device would hang and go back into that bootloop.

If this doesnt resolve, then faulty phone.

'google photo' app was updated this morning from memory. could be the issue. go into settings-applications-photos then force stop and go into 'storage' and clear cache/data then see how you get on.

or unistall the google photo app and reinstall it. see how you get on. have a quick google also, see if anyone else is having the issue since the latest release was updated.

OR are you talking about opening 'gallery'?
