Does anyone know of a good screenshot app?

There are none, unless your phone is Rooted. Strangely not supported in Android.

If your phone is unRooted then you can install ADP and take screenshots in that with your phone connected to the PC.

bugger... that's no good ...
came across shootme app but you're right, the phone has to be rooted...
doing it the other way with phone connect to pc is not my idea of convenient...
... maybe something might come out in android 2.2...
... heard some nexus one's have already got the android 2.2 update...
maybe desire won't be as far as 2nd half 2010

Desire is set to get 2.2 unofficially, and likely without Sense, within the week according to Paul OBrian... Officially not until 2H 2010 according to HTC, wouldn't expect to see it before late in 2H from them.

dpw > I am 100% sure it was the task killer, cause this happened immediately after 'kill all apps'
FroYo looks awesome - built in taks killer too (probably does it in a more graceful way).
loved all the digs at Apple during the keynote :)

Is anyone using a 32GB sd card in their phone? There seem to be quite a few cheaper generic brands on Ebay - wonder if those are worthwhile buying...

I am using a Sandisk one in mine, mentioned it earlier in the thread.

All the cheaper ones on Ebay are fakes as far as I'm aware - steer clear.

Has anyone had issues with meeting requests through the htc mail app and exchange? I tried with my desire at work today and managed to accept on behalf for the first person in the group receiving the invite...

Just a wee heads up for anyone who likes a little bit of gaming on their Device - Gameloft has released some high quality titles for Android. They are available via Gamelofts desktop website (or Dolphin with the user agent set to Desktop), not the Market (presumabably so they can insist on their license policy, which only lets you download purchased games once on a selected handset, which is a deterring drawback).

I've got Lets Golf! and Hero of Sparta on my Desire, they work on the Desire (although the controls for Hero of Sparta are suspect - possibly due to the Desires multitouch implementation - see the video comparing it to the Galaxy S to see what I mean - http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMrUlrich), and although they are listed at $7US on their website they only cost $3US when you get to the purchase screen (possibly location-related pricing differences since I chose NZ). I've also purchased and installed Dungeon Hunter (Diablo clone), even though it says its not available for the Desire, I just said my phone was the Moto Droid.

All their games are quite derivitive of major console franchises, so don't buy expecting originality, but if you want high quality graphics and production values with good (albeit derivitive) gameplay, these are well worth a look.

High quality gaming is really starting to take off on Android, heres a couple of other titles out/out soon:

http://androidforums.com/android-games/83546-crusade-destiny-3d-rpg-android.html

EDIT: Oh, I saw the post above about the Froyo update - I don't believe that story at all. The source is a customer service guy who said on the phone "don't tell anyone I told you this, but there is an update coming for the Desire on June 23rd". When have you ever known some call centre customer service rep to actually know anything? Source would struggle to be less credible...

I just got my desire and I can't the mobile data working. Mobile data is ticked but when switching it off then on again is never actually turns on it just stays gray. If it leave the menu and come back it is then ticked. Also there are no APNs listed just a blank screen although I seem to be happly connected to the Vodafone network. Calling works fine and wifi is also fine. Could it be related to the sim? i got a brand new one for the phone when shifting from prepay to account.

Cheers
Dave

You will need to type in the APN settings for vodafone. These settings around discussed further back up this topic. Start from the beginning.

Where do I type them in? When I go to "settings/wireless & networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names/" all I get is a blank screen with no where to enter anything?

If you press the Menu button on that screen you will see the option for 'new APN'
make sure you enter both the data one and the mms one as listed earlier in the forum
