Vivasanti: 10 hours 1% drain.

all day everyday.

You don't have any form of data on (WiFi or 3G). These and the screen are the bits that chew up the juice, so no wonder you're getting good battery life.

Try using your phone as a PDA (email, calendar, etc) and see what happens to your battery!

I wonder how much battery will drop over ten hours if it was turned off...

K1000716: Skinny's APN never saves... You'll get very good at creating it each time. ;)

You mean it never saves in ICS??  If so any idea why as all the others do.  The only one that didn't work after the upgrade was the Vodafone "Internet"  APN  that  was fixed by downloading the latest APN from Vodafone and installing it..

My Telecom APN's keep coming back every time but Skinny's one just disappears. I have no idea why. Luckily it takes less than 30 seconds to re-enter it so it's never been a major concern.

Agreed at present it's not a problem but it will be when Skinny gets MMS working as MMS APNs are long and convoluted..

Skinny is a youth aimed network opened by Telecom in January. It uses the XT network, but is a stand alone operator. Depending hire you use your phone it can be quite a but cheaper, which is why I switched from XT. Because it's so new there are a number of features not yet implemented, like MMS as mentioned above. When messing around with roms the apn doesn't save for some reason, unlike most operators, but there's only one until they support mms so it's not too hard to re-enter each time.

To be honest I haven't actually missed it much. The few times I've needed it I've just emailed the pics instead.

Sorry for the double post, I'm on my phone. I wish this site worked on tapatalk...

SamMobile.com usually has the telco-branded firmware packages. You can download the latest Telecom one from here. (If you're asked for a zip password, it's "samfirmware.com".)

You can also use the Check Fus Downloader tool to query the Samsung servers directly. This requires a Kies DLL in order to decrypt the firmware packages, so you might need Kies installed when you run it for the first time.

The phone gets its APN settings from /system/etc/apns-conf.xml. It appears that most of the NZ networks have settings in here, but Skinny doesn't.

If one of you Skinny users is feeling brave, I've got an experimental updated APN list that should contain Skinny's settings. It's available as a CWM zip package, so you'll need CWM recovery to install it. The zip file can be downloaded here. Note: this is completely and utterly untested. It might clobber your apns-conf.xml file, but won't affect anything else. Use at your own risk!

I'm happy to test it but the link doesn't appear to work for me. I'll just back up my own file, delete the apn's and then flash this to test it. :)

Would be best to just pick up a generic US spec usb charger over there? Should be cheap as chips and you know it will work, take a micro USB lead and you are done. Also car charger if you will have a vehicle over there

You will be fine, just get a US adaptor.
