manaia: Bought two of these for my kids last September and my son's has just stopped responding to the back button 2 weeks over the year. Noel Leeming said it was out of warranty but agreed to send it to Vodafone. It's come back unfixed with no documentation, so I'm assuming VF aren't interested. Can anyone comment on the VF warranty? I have found some Smart phones on the VF website with 2 years warranty but can't find the docs for Ultra 6.

It's definitely a 24 months warranty. The earphone in my Smart Prime stopped working, I'd had the phone abbout 14 months, took it back to the Vodafone shop I bought it from and showed them the receipt and they said no problem and gave me a new one.

Yes, that's good advice. I just called VF and they said that the two years only applies if you buy direct from them. It came back from Noel Leeming with no explanation at all (person who booked it in was unavailable by phone or in person) so I think it's time to put some CGA pressure on them, as you say.

That sounds like dodgy practise to me, and in your shoes I would be pretty brassed off.

CGA can be used against the retailer or the distributer / importer who I believe in this case is Vodafone. You have a choice to go after whoever you want.

Thanks for the advice & encouragement on my issue. There was a crack in the case so VF have claimed physical damage (probably rightly, it's my son's). Noel Leeming New Lynn were really good when I went back about sending it back a second time and I feel like I got a proper response from the service chain this time. Next time I buy I'll think about paying more from VF to get the longer warranty, but it wouldn't have helped in this case anyway.

I bought mine from Warehouse stationery and took it back under warranty due to a screen issue, it had never been dropped or abused but had cracks in the casing, I am very careful about not sitting with it in pockets etc so still no idea how damage occurred, either way was not a problem with warranty, FWIW i'm sure WS supported VF's 24mth warranty also

Just got a new relplace from TWH after my one year old model's touch screen stopped working.

Anyone got the same problem? It seems this model has touch screen issue, I have heard at least another one from my friends.

I need to decide whether to keep the replace one or to sell it. (still have balance of 2 years warranty on it, 1 year. )

Got a system update today. Android security date 2016-05-01. Yay for being on the Android bleeding edge.

Incidentally, I've been starting to hate this phone recently. All sorts of weird behavior, like the google now/search/cards app (whatever it's called) refusing to work. It open for two seconds and then closes itself. I tried resetting the phone, and it made no difference (well, no more difference than purging the app's cache, which makes it work again for a couple of times before it returns to it's self-closing nonsense). But the worst thing I'm getting right now is totally unreliable notifications. Today I didn't get any for 6 hours and then suddenly they all came through at once.

FWIW I'm having the same experience -- although it doesn't bother me as much :-) I'm still very happy with the phone.

I thought about installing a custom rom, but eventually decided that I didn't care enough. Has anybody else?

There are reports of Android 6.0 being released very soon.

Ireland and Spanish Vodafone have released patches in prep for the update to 6.0

Same issue. Tried a factory reset still no go. My wife has the same phone and Google now works fine on hers so who knows?

HOT TIP: If your phone is rooted (like mine) don't install the security update. To be fair, it did warn me, but the result is that my phone is now stuck at the bootloader. Hmmm.

The Smart Ultra 6 really feels EOL, this is a very funny thing to happen if so.  I have one sitting here doing nothing, It does feel quite a lot slower than a modern flagship (and so it should) I wonder what 6.0 would feel like on it.
