I just read this - like Apple, the Samsung warranty doesn't cover water ingress and if the built-in sensors detect moisture, it's game over for your warranty. IP68 should be regarded as protection only against accidental exposure to water.

I've got a S7E. What makes you say it's significantly worse than the Note?

 

 

For all practical purposes - apart from screen size, stylus and iris scanner - the Note7 and S7/S7E are identical devices internally and there's no discernible differences to make one better than any other.

God I hope you did not have soap/shampoo in the shower (on your hands etc). Surface tension changes to the water etc

 

If so you can kiss that phone goodbye.

That's pretty much why the day I got a supposedly waterproof phone it went into a LifeProof case and has remained there.  Same as the S5 before it.  I figure given the environments I often end up in, why take the chance.  One extra layer of protection is worth the $100.

It's sad when a company advetise there shiny toy in water slides and in underwater on there tv adverts but warranty doesn't cover it what's the point of saying waterproof/resistance

Got sick of battery life reducing down to the levels I had with my old S4 and did a format, but using the XSA firmware (latest one that was released last week comes with September security updates too). 

 

Just been a day so far and it's nice to see the battery use 'flat lining' when not being used.  Hmm, wonder if there was a rogue app. So tempting to root to use better battery stats but I don't think that's worth borking the knox flag for. 

 

Word on the 'street' ie interwebs, is that nougat is being tested on the s7, and has been seen on geekbench results, so fingers crossed it's not too far away.

My S7E has developed a nicely coloured line of pixels vertically across my screen. Lightly pressing the screen at the top of the line can make it sometimes disappear, but mostly just change colour. Anyone else heard of something like this?

 

I'm hoping to have time to take it into the store tomorrow and see what the warranty covers....

Agree adding the providers to the mix slows down the process.  Also agree that Samsung used to be pretty awful at updates, but think they are picking up their game.  Particularly with non branded/carrier specific updates.  XSA seems to get an update once a month, granted it's not the latest security/OS version but it's not bad...

I'm hoping to have time to take it into the store tomorrow and see what the warranty covers....

 

 

Yip, mines doing the same. Nice pink line, that can break apart a little at times to a few pixels wide.  This will be my second screen as the first one went haywire too.  

 

Currently on top of the pink line I also have bad a proximity sensor (same location?) that is causing many calls to go on hold (thats where the hold button is when you have it to your ear) if you dont press power once answering/calling.

 

Also the flip LED wallet cover is the second to go bad... so thats going back as well.
