anybody investing in the Ubiquitous Nano Memory card for their new phones yet. Im working out the need in relation to how many photos I may take (im a bit of a photo buff) and current storage available. Used to have a 256gb on my last phone (Note 8) which wold last for ages and ages. Im keeping the stock standard 10 Mp size for photos to keep the benefit of the AI. The only time im thinking I need more storage is when on overseas holidays. But then I usually have my Surface pro with me and can prob offload to a Transcend Storejet portable storage

That would be the authorisation charge. They probably would only charge on shipping so should be ok (as in not being charged for something you didn't get).

I'm still disappointed, as now it means I won't be able to get the $401 off (now $301), and get the Huawei GT Watch!

Ok W .T . F... I just called Vodafone to see why my order had not been dispatched yet and they told me that because when my order had been processed, my IP address was not in NZ (I was overseas!) But I got no error messages or anything, yet the website even said the order was confirmed! Now they're telling me I have to go and place a new order, but now the deal isn't as good as when I ordered it then, which gave me a free watch, plus $401 off!

So pissed off with Vodafone NZ.... absolutely useless and stupid!

I'd escalate this. They should be able to sort it.

@MikeHales or @JasonParis should be able to help.

I’d be frustrated about this too. We’ll be very happy to honour the original deal for you. Drop me an email at Jason.paris@vodafone.com and I’ll get this sorted for you.

Cheers

JP

Anyone asked when the redemption watches start shipping? I saw a random comment on Facebook saying don't start till 29th? Although that gives me decent time for watch straps to arrive I hate waiting for new toys.

Hi Jason,

Thank you very much for this, and I do apologise for the excessive use of words in my original post. As you can imagine, I had been looking forward to getting this new phone, but to find out it wasn't accepted without warning was frustrating for me.

Will email you now.

Thanks again.

Yeah according to the advert they gave me, the watch is valid for any orders from participating retailers until 31st May. To be fair, Vodafone isn't listed as a participating retailer but maybe they joined late or a mistake was made. You have 2 weeks from the end date/14 June to redeem it. So if you aren't getting the Noel Leeming or PB Tech bonuses, the only difference in ordering now and pre-ordering is the handset subsidy which at $100 or more is quite a bit.

There is one excuse the pun one Glaring omission on the presentation of this phone and I wonder if folk realise in that it does not appear to have Gorilla Glass at all on it at all from various reports

I borrowed a P30 Pro and went out shooting with a fellow photographer and his new Canon mirrorless FF (which I quite like but am invested in sony).

My thoughts are pretty simple, its good. Its not perfect but what can you expect inside a phone (just yet, 1" Leica please lol). I really thought the 5x optical whilst a bit soft at the far end was great, nothing you cant PP into shape. The widescreen whilst not the best angle imo is always a must have. The RYYB was fun to use, but imo not something Id bank on prints with. Video was ok, not great but not bad. Overall the camera was great. The phone I didnt enjoy so much but most people dont enjoy Huawei UI it seems, again, resolvable and adaptable. The OLED isnt the best nor the worst, middle n leg. I did try the mains charger and wholy flying bats batman, good, very good.

Overall as a memory collector and a phone in one its awesome, a lot of the pics may not be good enough for large prints but daytime shots I see no issue with IQ.

I will like to see if Leica put RYYB into a bigger sensor camera of their own, to get some really high IQ shots.

My friend said he prefers to capture what his eye sees. I asked if his eye sees 12mm wide angle, HDR, PP, pretty much all the things we enjoy from digital photography. Ansel Adams work was in the lab after all.

Interestingly the S10+ has scored the same on DXO and its not based on video oddly, which is much better. So until I can have a play with it I wont know why. Perhaps being synthetic the RYYB doesnt count....

Top stuff Leica/Huawei, keep on keeping on

Lol Because corning gorilla is only brand of tough glass in the world and all others are crap?

https://youtu.be/0IrPJ2l19fc
Same scratch test rating as Samsung s10. Gorilla glass must be just as crap hahaha

Isn't the Samsung 5g the one with same score for camera?

I have one assumption when I see phones with glass rares and that its like washing machines that are industrially designed to fail one non replaceable part, designed to break. I just dont get it, I cant justify it. Anyone else? Im sincerely curious as to why. There must be a valid reason outside designed to fail because most seem to have followed Galaxy s6 etc with the wet soap bar made of glass design.
