There are reports of Android 6.0 being released very soon.

Ireland and Spanish Vodafone have released patches in prep for the update to 6.0

The Smart Ultra 6 really feels EOL, this is a very funny thing to happen if so.  I have one sitting here doing nothing, It does feel quite a lot slower than a modern flagship (and so it should) I wonder what 6.0 would feel like on it.

I'd still like to get Marshmallow on mine. I probably won't be able to upgrade until August.

HOT TIP: If your phone is rooted (like mine) don't install the security update. To be fair, it did warn me, but the result is that my phone is now stuck at the bootloader. Hmmm.

So I reinstalled the Factory ROM (from Romania). Pros: I have a working phone, and the broken Google Now problem is fixed. Cons: I no longer have a rooted device. I haven't tried to re-root it.

Got a couple sitting here at work, they're very nice phones, especially for the price.

I received notification this morning that my SU6 had a software update waiting, about 39MB.  Haven't had a chance to apply it yet, has anyone else?

Yes, as per my post on the previous page, it updates the security level to the half way through last year. No problems with the update (wasn't rooted).

I picked up a Smart Ultra 7 at Warehouse Stationery today, they price matched TWL at $229 plus a 5% further discount down to $217.

I just got the upgrade to 6.0.1. Fwiw I'm running the stock ROM from Romania (because it was the only stock ROM I could find when crisis struck)

Seems to be working OK. Will be interesting to see what battery life is like.

No 6.0 here on NZ stock ROM yet.

Just to elaborate on Kerryland's post (thanks by the way didn't know MM was headed for the SU6 until i read your post) I was inspired to update my phone so thought i might document the process for others

NB: this replaces the NZ rom with the Romanian 5.1.1 rom (which then OTA updates to 6.0.1), I am on 2 Degrees and can confirm no issues running this rom, it has a couple of extra VF apps baked in but other than that seems indifferent

1) Download 5.1.1 Rom Zipfile from here

http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=C6FD604A845B452FA332206161CEA7BF#software

2) Extract Update.zip and copy to mSD card

3) Boot into recovery (Vol+ & Power)

4) Select "Update from SD" option

5) Check for updates (Settings/ About phone/ Software updates/ Check for updates) download OTA 6.0.1 update & install

6) *Optional* Do full factory reset (Remember to back up any files you want to keep before this stage :P )

Experience has taught me when doing any incremental OS update it pays to always do a full factory reset otherwise you end up with a bunch of pita quirky bugs and glitches

The 6.0.1 OTA update took a long time, it is a slow download so allow 2~2.5hrs for this step

My phone was long overdue for a refresh and was starting to feel quite laggy, so hard to say how much improvement MM has made in general but my phone is lightening fast and smooth compared to a day ago
