I use DeX daily with my Windows PCs. It's a great feature but it still struggles with some things, so it's not a full laptop replacement for me. It's definitely handy for what it can do, though.
TeaLeaf:
I watched a video yesterday on how you can interact with MS windows, have Dex on one monitor windows on another but be able to move the windows around and even back to MS Windows.
Can you provide a link to that video? It might provide some clue as to what feature you're referring to. As far as I know Dex on my S21 can't do what you describe, but I wonder if the video uses Dex in a differnt way. I just plug my S21 into a USB-C dock which drives the displays from the video output of the S21 and can't imagne how that could interface with a separate Windows machine without some sort of coordination of some kind between the Windows machine and the Dex device.
Agree with other posters that it's no desktop replacement but I can see how it could come in handy. I never use it as a daily driver though -- only time I've used Dex is to show others but most people I've shown it to seem to fall into the 'wow thats cool but I wouldn't use it' camp. YMMV.

DEX wont run natively like I mentioned by itself with Windows.
You need to install the DEX for PC app to do the connectivity with windows features. They did initially do a Mac OSX version but there just wasnt enough uptake to warrant the effort from what Ive read, which wit iPhone users also liking the simplified OSX route of computing, this is understandable.
There are a number of companies, especially in the US who have now seen the value in one device, especially as it fits in your pocket and can with dual SIM/eSIM be used for personal/business in one device. Many MS productivity apps have been optimized for the DEX environment, usual Office stuff, Zoom etc. Given US devices run on the snappier QC Snapdragon SoC's, the devices have more power than many older undervolted intel laptops. Its multicore where the newer intel desktops cant be beat by mobile SoCs. However my understanding is, once you are running DEX for Windows, you are essentially piggy backing off the Desktop CPU/hardware, given you can drag and drop from a DEX screen to a Windows screen and back again. I would like to see that confirmed in a video.
However thats not the target, its the single device market Offices, ie legal, accounting, students etc. Horses for courses. But you can piggy back off the Desktop chip power once installed so its a moot point.
Given Google are developing the "Desktop" section in "Developer Mode", many speculating to give everyone a basic Desktop mode on Android. However I do wonder if Google will work there own OS for Pixel to deliver something trying to catch up with DEX in years to come.....
Certainly the single device market is quite sizeable. Whether its imply mirracasting connectivity to a living room TV for entertainment, running DEX on a monitor with a KB and Mouse for study or work, or connecting it to your Desktop via DEX for Windows and doing all the cross platform that delivers.
One thing Im pretty sure, even Pixel wont be catching up to Samsung DEX anytime soon :-).
Linux: @TeaLeaf so then get the + you have answered your very own question!
I just realised it doesnt have the same resolution as the ultra, in fact its quite a low ppi count at 390. I thought was same screen, lesser camera.
Im not a huge fan of curved edges, when did Samsung come back to squared edges, s23 or s24?
aside from incremental hardware upgrades, are there any HUGE feature differences between the S22 Ultra to the S24 Ultra?
Looking on Kimovil, the tech specs for the S23U and the S24U look very similar, the cameras are the same hardware it looks.
Cheers mate.
Correction they swapped the Sony Imx754 12Mp Telephoto 3x and 10x for the slightly newer IMX854 50MP Telephoto 3x and 5x. So the S24ultra is relying on an increase in Pixels over physical lens to get the 10x zoom. What is the general thoughts on which approach was better?
a 10x zoom on that main 200Mp 1.3/1" main Samsung sensor would be interesting. But the 1" sensors are there, its a shame apple, samsung and maybe pixel are not using them like many of the Ch manufacturers are.
edit: Looking at a review, at 10x zoom and beyond the s24 is softer when pixel peeping, but its noticeable side by side. I dont think anyone is going to notice though with all the HDR trickery, unless you crop and zoom in to details etc.

my apologies, fair point. just, somebody had suggested they are essentially the same. I should have made it a "real world experience" question for people who have both re the camera's.
448MB update July security patch
August security patch out on the S23U.
And after the update the security patch is still on 1 Aug.
The update contained a slew of AI features.
September security update is now available
Just had to updates in a row, one another the other. Or am I going mad? I have the S23U.
Seems like the first one was to upgrade to 1 September security patch, and the other I have no idea. Anyone had a similar experience?
I keep my phone updated monthly so having two come through one after another was a first.
