Shoes2468: Thanks for the feedback, will flashing the stock rom up my rom flash counter? Get the yellow triangle thing? My biggest hesitation is that the phone is still under warranty.

It technically will void your warranty.

You could install triangle away to wipe the counter or you can install the nontelecom stock 4.1.2 or you can just wait.

I was only ever going to install the stock 4.1.2 rom, if I flashed back to ICS would that up the rom counter?

I am eagerly awaiting the latest S2 update yet when I hit the Update menu item in settings it says "Unable to connect network" yet it did work in the past. Anyone else have trouble with it?

I've been running CM10.1 nightlies for quite a while and haven't had any serious issues. There was one build that prevented the internal SD card from mounting correctly, but it was fixable in a terminal emulator window. I'd never go back to stock now.

Genuine Samsung firmware should never modify the counter. It only increases if you install something that is modified (e.g. a rooted stock kernel) or completely custom.

If you do install a non-stock firmware, flashing a stock firmware over the top will remove the triangle, but an internal counter will still keep note of the non-stock install.

So I took the plunge and followed the instructions found in the link below as Joker recommended
http://wccftech.com/update-galaxy-s2-i9100-to-xwlsd-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-official-firmware-2/

and found it was surprising easy really, kept all my data and everything, the modem which is packaged seems pretty average, seem to have 1 less bar of signal than usual, i9100t using on 2degrees, thinking of flashing the old ICS modem back on, but where would one get the files to do this?

Seeing as how you've got the i9100T, you could look at the i9100TDOLP4 modem, which comes from the Telecom firmware package. You could also look at the i9100PBVLP7 modem, which I'm using on 2D on the non-T phone, and it's working fine with good data speeds.

Is there a reputable source for these modems?

Thanks for the update John,

after testing a couple of modems it is clear the DOPL4 is the best on the 9100T as I went from weak 3g signal to full signal with DOPL4

Hi Everyone,

I got an SII around November last year, and pretty much from the start, although not that often, it would just randomly turn off by itself. I would go to pick it up and it would be dead. Re-setting it by hitting the power button at the same time as the volume up for a good 30seconds, reboots the phone.

I have tried a new battery, new sim card and removed the micro SD card..no luck.

Each time it powers off, it will lose between about 15-20% battery life. Sometimes when I notice it's turned off as well, it feels noticeably hot to the touch.

I have done some searching on the internet and not alot of help, apart from it possibly being a prob with it getting stuck in deep sleep mode.

Its just a huge pain as its usually happening at least 1 or 2 times per day, with no warning.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I had exactly the same problem, plagued me for about a year. Eventually I worked out it was Juice Defender.  Removed it and it stopped crashing completely. I suspect apps were trying to connect to the net, and being cut off by JD so just ran until they crashed the phone.

Hi All, New to Geekzone Smile

And new to the world of custom Roms having just flashed my SII to a custom rom a matter of days ago.

I have a I9100T, on 2degrees and live in Albany, Auckland.
I am using Android 4.1.2 on NeatROM

The modem that came with NeatROM was XXLS8 but it didnt work well for me, had the same problem as HardCorePawn with my phone being stuck on Edge most of the time, sometimes H and sometimes no signal.

Had not heard of updating the RIL as well as the modem to begin with

I have tried DOLP4 (just the modem) but far as I know this is for ICS so using the RIL+modem wouldnt work for JB, is that right?

Wondering what is a good modem+RIL for the I9100T running JB ? And does having a matching modem & RIL make the difference?

Correct me if I'm wrong, this stuff is new to me, thanks in advance
