Might look at giving this a run

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development/rom-xtrestolite-pure-edition-1-0-beta-1-t3082467

What's up with rooting on the S6? Seems a little more complicated than previous Galaxy devices.

Shouldn't be so long as there's a Chainfire root available for your model/firmware.  And that's actually the issue. . .Samsung went nuts with all the different variants - the Edge alone has something like 7 variants sold internationally, with the US market having their usual bootloader-locked models for each carrier.  And some variants, like the SM-G9250 that I used to own have multiple firmwares depending on the region.

Complete nightmare for devs to support - can't understand what Samsung were thinking when they made that call.

That's about the size of it - eFuse's, Knox, Closed-source CPU's. . .If it wasn't for the hardware, I'd be shopping elsewhere

Yes, I think I was a bit seduced by having a decent camera on a smartphone. In a month I have used the camera once to take a photo I wanted to keep rather than just testing it out.
May have to get a Nexus next time to really have a play.
I'm hoping the update to 5.1.1 isn't going to prove painful when it arrives.

What is the build number you ended up with?

(Settings->About device->Build number)

As I said above your post I hope the update process isn't going to be too painful with a rooted device. I have downloaded Smart Switch for PC but I understand the update removes root so I need to weigh up what is more important.

What's the screen like on the S6? How does it compare to the Note 4?

Just got mine and it seems really dull?
