johnr: Ok I think I have figured it out

Its for SIM tool kit go and look at the SIM tool kit ICON in the menu

Hi John, what does the SIM tool kit do? I have an older card that obviously doesnt have it.

I had a look through Wiki but was wondering about how it works here with Vodafone.

I believe the SIM toolkit is just a whole bunch of vodafone features (joke of the day/horoscope/ringtones SMS, top up functions which have never worked for me, etc.) stuffed into a single location.

It's pretty pointless actually. You're not missing out on much haha.

Localzone and hotlink work off Sim toolkit and they are very popular services

Just got an Over The Air (OTA) update from HTC... 27mb in size, and it re-set the phone and installed from the boot loader. Said it was an application update.

Don't know anything else about it. It's not froyo tho, damn it. Still, anyone have the facts?

Haven't gotten any sort of update notification yet here in Auckland.

By "resetting the phone", do you mean everything is wiped? If so I need to back up my photos pronto before I get the update!! :(

Mine is still there :S  But I'm used to it now :)

Wonder what the update was for exactly.  I can't find any more details than what is posted here:

Man, two OTA updates since I ordered mine.. do you have to install each one individually, or will just the latest one include the previous updates?

Just got mine too. Just after I chose "Install now" it came up with an error - something about not being able to backup my settings to SD! It then started installing immediately! Thankfully nothing was lost but it sure scared the bejeebuz out of me!

Probably some code writer at HTC rolling on the floor laughing as he added that line of text :)

I think it depends on the update freq set by the server, it says it there somewhere where you do the update.
