LSCM:  Quick question to Scott or NZTechfreak, can you change icons on homescreen and app drawer using something like desktop visualizeR or do I need a custom launcher? Have always swapped out touchwiz in the past and now have a favourite icon set, but I like the idea of keeping Asus almost-vanilla experience.

Little late in answering this, but you might want to check out this post from Android Police. It requires root but allows you to change icon for any launcher without having to use desktop visualizer which is painful.

Many thanks, was hoping not to root to save the warranty but if I do that is a great solution.

LSCM: New member here loving the info so far - gonna swap to the infinity as my Note is too big and too small ;-)

I ordered the padfone 2 two days before the MWC announcement, luckily was able to cancel so now waiting for the official UK release of the Infinity.

Do you mean change the icon for a given app from the standard one to something custom?

Exactly that, but preferably all icons at once using a new icon pack.

Found a couple more things on the minor annoyances list:

The handset charges fine off a 3rd party charger but the station doesn't like it, doesn't charge and tells you to connect the Padfone AC adaptor. Been there done that before with my Nokia N900 etc, a little bit silly these days!

There is something going on with apps running in the background not getting data access. I have disabled the ASUS power saving schemes but I still find Dropbox auto upload, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp etc to have intermittent connectivity/notifications.

I still love this thing though, best device ever!

Are those that have purchased one able to point in the direction they sourced it from? What did it end up costing landed in NZ for the phone and tablet?
