Right, ok.
So download this version, dump it on my sd card, and then boot into recovery and choose the install option off the card, cross all fingers and toes?

i can't answer whether it is ok to flash it from recovery, only as last resort. i've always flashed from odin. sometimes when it doesn't detect i unplug, replug, try different usb ports. yes a bit of black magic but it always detected it after a few tries

I'm guessing it's the cable ... but looks like we shall never know.

I googled cyanogenmod to stock and there are tonnes of "steps". If it was a normal custom ROM, I would say in your situation just flash from Recovery. But i know nothing about CM ...but ... jeffnz says you can

I have used 3 different cables. One ended up being the stock cable too.

I"ll chew on this and digest and come up with a plan and update once attempted. Thx for all the help.

other black magic to try:
run odin as admin
update your recovery
different timing of plugging in, one end first vs the other, plug in once in download vs while booting into download etc
NEW COMPUTER ... !

and if all those fail ... do it in recovery i guess ...

Flash cm12.1 from recovery? Apparently there is a stable release. It might be easier than trying to go back to stock?

If your phone is the n7105 it's also known as the t0lte. Go to cyanogenmod.com and download the snapshot 12.1 release on their site. I've been running it for a month on mine. Download it straight to your sdcard on the phone also download gapps, then flash them one after the other in recovery.

It pays to do a nandroid backup in recovery first, I had to revert to mine and redownload both the files as they had corrupted (bad internet connection). Once all the sha1 numbers matched (good download) they flashed fine and phone is better than most Note2's

yes, its n7105, t0lte
Phones never make it easy to change the location of the download to SD. I'll use file mgr once downloaded.
from get.cm/?device=t0lte what about the column titled 'cyanogenmod recovery' ?

I gather gapps is independent of model and elsewhere on the site.

Don't worry about the recovery column download.

Gapps here

https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps

I followed this guide loosely, with the exception that I never hooked up to a computer, all the files were on my device as yours will be.

If you have esfile explorer then after you have downloaded the zip files and moved them, check the properties of the file and the check sum on them and compare the last few digits with the sha1 number listed on the website you downloaded them from.

Thanks. All Done. All Working.
Hopefully Cm12.1 does't crash when the battery hits 14%. And multiple other times.

It still has the volume issue, where you have to hit down volume and up to get normal levels of volume for calls and music.

Thx for your help.
