marlinz:

Nah its the 6 , it really frustrates her

If you remember where, please feel free to let me know

I did it on the 7 and the settings menu is different.

But some things you could try

  • make sure battery saver is off.
  • make sure do not disturb is off
  • make sure that you can see all notifications when device is locked (under sound and notifications)
  • make sure that messenger has a notification alert (under messenger settings)

Now that these have been released a while, how happy are current users with the V8/N8?

N8 now down to $149 just about everywhere.  Might just be time to upgrade my wife's Galaxy S4

V8 down to $279 at Warehouse Stationery.  Might finally be time to upgrade my SU6 :)

With the Emergency Alert test today, I'm keen to hear how v8 users go. Bought a couple as above, but they won't be unwrapped just yet :)

Only just seen this but I got the emergency alert with the V8. It made a loud noise and spoke the message. My partner didn't get it on her Samsung J7 Prime.

Switched my Grandma to the N8 in the weekend after her old Samsung died, she's loving it - Especially the simple mode.

She also did get the Emergency Alert as well which she was quite pleased with :)

Technical question but would the V8 work with 2 Degrees being a Vodafone branded phone? Thinking of changing the the data hunt but don't want to switch my number to then find it won't work.

just curious... a colleague has today (?) noticed a new icon appear in the 'status' (top right hand side) section of his Smart V8.

Hard to describe ... sort of a circle, half of which is greyed out, and a "+" in the centre ....

anyone know what that is indicating?

no, not do not disturb ... a) that's a circle (filled circle) with a minus sign, where as this is unfilled, with a plus, and b) IIRC they are normally shown on the top left of the screen, whereas this is on the top right (beside the network status indicators) ... a mystery ....undecided
