Dingbatt: The NZHerald quoted a price of $NZ1599 in their article yesterday. I believe the Stuff article was lifted straight from the Aussie media without factoring the exchange rate. If that is the case then the 1600 would be about right.
Edit: Stuff has price at $NZ1599 as well.
I would expect some pre order bundles with a Dex or wireless charger, etc.
Have to be some redonk deals to be honest.

I want to buy this after having note 7.
But $1600 , I won't spend that much on the phone.
if it was $1300 i'll think about it.

I'd hope, nay, EXPECT the big carriers here in nz to subsidise those of us who had to relinquish our beloved N7!
Spark was good about refunding the full purchase price and I was one who got a free J5 in return (which, by the way, was a good way for me to justify always having the top of the line phone - try going back down to a low power phone I dare you. It was terrible). So I doubt they'll give any further discount now.
My near new Note5 has been almost as good as the 7 was and without the annoying iris scanner.
I would also go for a refurb 7 FE were they available here over the 8. (Any one got one? Willing to sell? )
I still have my genuine n7 flip $100 case as I lost the receipt and couldn't return it to Vodafone shop :(
First world problems, eh? :)
I've got a mint condition empty Note7 box and all related packaging .....
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

They were going to give a discount for Note 7 owners in the US. Wonder if they will bring that discount here too.
I know it's a different thing but when I bought my Note7 from VF, I got a $300 discount by buying it on a two-year, interest-free calling plan - plus a 256GB memory card thrown in.
I thought that was an OK deal at the time and maybe there will be something similar here this time round.
When I had to give the replacement Note7 back, unsurprisingly I was able to keep the memory card - but also the charging adapter plus the cable and all the cable adapters. Plus keep the free J5 I was given to tide me over between the first and second Note7's (which I kept new and unopened and sold on Trademe).
Then at the end Samsung NZ gave all NZ Note7 owners a $100 consolation gift. Total discount and cash-effect (excluding adapters and cable) was at least $750 which offset the cost of the phone I eventually ended up with (Huawei P9+).
Although I would have preferred to have had an ongoing non-fiery Note7, I felt I came out of the whole thing quite well - apart from the major PITA amateurish way VFNZ ran the whole thing. As a result I haven't dealt with them since that.

Good guess on pricing - RRP stated as $1599.
And it looks like SD Cards are the bonus again.

DANOFDANGER: Id like to say no, however my phone really needs replacing, its had too much abuse.
The note 8 just has problems i cant accept.
Too tall.
Fingerprint scanner placement.
Bixby button.
Price.
Battery.
I would rather wait for next year so they can reduce those bezels, place a onscreen fingerprint scanner, improve battery life and potentially remove or alow mappable bixby button. But i am almost like forced to get it.
The newly announced LG V30 is similar design (but without the stylus) and would address most of your issues above: fractionally shorter, proper fingerprint scanner placement, No Bixby, should be cheaper ...
My phone doesn't really need replacing but I would LOVE a note 8... There's just too many problems I can't accept...
1) Price
2) Price
3) Price
4) Price
5) Price
6) Non-removable battery
In that order.

[edit] I have a note 4 and use the Stylus all the time. No stylus is a dealbreaker so I have no options but to stay with my note 4 until it dies, then start buying Note series phones secondhand :-)

Just preordered mine from Noel Leemings. On top of the phone i get:
- Google Chromecast
- 128Gb SD Card, and
- Samsung fast charging wireless stand
Was waiting for PB tech but decided was very happy with the NL offer.
