It does seem that Samsung has done something to stop the flashing to another CSC.  I wonder if this has to do with the new carrier software app (it seems that the firmware does not change as much between telco's now and a new carrier app loads what the carrier wants on it).  A bit like iOS and their telco update files.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If this is correct then I say it's a bloody great move by samsung to keep the firmware the same between telco's and use the carrier software app to update/load carrier bloat.

 

 

 

Spark phones might get lucky in a update later that remove the flash screen once samsung starts to tell them they can't have it anymore.

I recently asked about the Spark Splash logo / firmware at PB Tech & was told this...

"Regarding your enquiry about firmware & Spark logo, it is not able to change. I can re-flash firmware, but it would still have Spark logo when you power it on"

while this may seem OCD to some, don't care. I'll be ocd if I want 😁. And I'd bet I'm not the only one that this type of thing bothers other people. And Plenty of people have done this type of thing before, got rid of telco branding.

Seeing as it's not possible. I'm just going to move on & enjoy my amazing new phone.

I totally understand what you mean with the OCD :P  One the first things I use to do when i got a new phone was to de-brand it and use AU firmware for faster updates etc.  Over the last year however due to the speed of updates coming out (not waiting months for security updates anymore) I am happy just to run firmware the telco's have on the phone as long as they are not bloated down with to much c**p.

It's probably cheaper and easier to close your eyes for ten seconds once a week when you reboot your phone.

Just as I cant (easily) remove awefull preloaded Samsung apps from my ph.

They're not locked they just have customised firmware, and there is no discount, they're all full price.

exactly. I bought the spark branded Note8 from Harvey Norman & bought it outright $1578 with a few bonus items. I was able to uninstall the spark app. lol

Don't know what everyone else considers normal, but I restart mine every morning when I get up and turn it on. I switch it off at night.

Mine sits next to the bedside on a wireless charger and the always on clock display is so much better than any old alarm clock.

I have to admit that it irritate me a little that I have the spark logo etc on start up.  But not enoguh to root the phone or anything.  But here is a thought: -

- Does the splash screen exist as a file somewhere on the phone?

- If it does; could it be replaced with another image file that has the same file-name?

If the Telco branding annoys you so much why didn't you buy and unbranded (Telco) phone?
