Ok do you mean tvs which used to have infrared remotes?
I have Nvidia Shield which is bluetooth remote as well as Google Home is basically universal remote via WiFi as well. But yes IR remote will be handy I guess.

I'm not, I want an FM radio on my handset. Laugh all you like, but it's a feature I use every day.

I think these days most people would stream the radio over the internet, though that does use bandwidth.

Yes, plus I (at times) travel to places without signal but can get good FM signal, as I discussed here: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=11&topicid=273192

So yes, an FM radio is a requirement for me.

Fair enough, but the more requirements you add to a phone the more difficult it will be to find one that suits. A stand alone FM radio is probably very small and very cheap, but taking additional devices is a pain.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Why is it so hard to find a phone that is regular iphone sized/speccd but in Android? Do I HAVE to buy into iphone finally?

I really like the iPhone screen tap accuracy on the smaller screen. I don't think any Android matches Apple on that. Some of Jobs' special crazy magic is still lurking in there.

Interesting you say that, for a number of years almost all of my phones (barring a few very early Nokias) have all had an FM radio on them. I guess I'm just used to it now.
