I asked Pebblebee why they are not shipping their trackers yet and they replied as follows

Please note that these are two separate features. Google has indeed started the rollout of the "Unkown Tracker Alerts" for Android. That feature will allow you to locate Airtags without an owner and receive unwanted tracking notifications. However, Google's Find My Device has not been launched by Google yet. They have been targeting a summer roll out, but have recently informed that there will be a delay. In consequence we can't ship the pre-orders yet. For more details on the reasons behind Google's decision, we invite you to read their blog post.

When I posted the link it was directly from an email received from Chipolo.

I guess we now just have to wait for Google to sort things out with Apple. I ordered mine months ago and I can't wait to use them.

I got an email from Pebblebee today:
The ultimate trackers for Android are shipping soon.
Our new line of item finders for Google's new Find My Device network starts shipping May 27th. These trackers are Made for Google certified and will start selling at the Google Store later this June.

Great that they’ll be shipping soon, but given I’ve not seen any announcement re the Apple/Google compatibility thing, is it worth ordering them at this point in time? Will the trackers function in ‘Find My Device’ on Android devices? TIA.

And, wow, shipping to NZ is now $40… I’m even more keen on seeing if anyone wants to split an order, so please DM or post here if you do.

Are there any trackers that will work for both apple and android at the same time? Tiles are what we get because not everyone is on the same platform which ruled out airtags which the apple fans were always pushing to move to.

My Chipolo (ordered almost a year ago when the first announcement came out) got delivered today (a public holiday, thanks DHL). I have setup three of these, all joined the network, live here in New Zealand.

The trackers are compatible with Google Find My Device network. The thing with Apple was Google waiting for Apple to agree on a protocol for trackers from both ecosystems to be compatible in a way that people could be alerted if an unknown tracker was next to them for a period of time - think stalkers, etc.

I bought 4 of these in May last year!

https://pebblebee.com/products/tag-for-android

I am told the are being shipped out shortly

Pre-orders began shipping on Monday. However, there's been a slight delay in shipping all international orders. This is due to Google’s network still finalizing its deployment in Europe. Following Google's recommendation, we’ll be holding these orders until the first week of June, after which we’ll start sending them out. We will ship the orders in the sequence they were placed, so yours will be among the first to be dispatched

Good to know the Pebblebee trackers are nearly there, though obviously if I order now I can expect some delay while they catch up with pre-orders. These still appeal to me over the Chipolos thanks to all models being rechargeable, especially the wallet versions of both brands - the Chipolo model is not even user-replaceable let alone rechargeable, and I’m not comfortable from either a financial or resource angle with throwing out a $59 tracker when the battery dies…

It’ll be interesting to see if/when they arrive in NZ, or at least even on Amazon.au; but I’m also getting sick of buying batteries for Tiles, plus some of our Tile Stickers are running out of juice, so will just need to get on and order these.

Also, the Google Find My Device network is instantly larger than Chipolo, Tile and Samsung closed ones that require an app or a specific OEM.

Tile still wins IMO as these ones that warn people with your stolen stuff because of some peoples concern about being tracked defeats the purpose of hiding a tracker in your stuff

It only warns after a while, as you don't get notifications of unknown trackers just because you spent 45 minutes on a shared bus trip.
