James: 90503 is the US post code. Presumably shipito.com gave you a post box number at their base address of 2972 Columbia St.

If you go to the N900 thread here, or the stickied thread in the N900 forum at nokiausers.net you'll see the guide to purchasing via Shipito that Euanandrews and I worked out getting our N900's. Now validated by quite a few others, so at the present time its known to be working well.

How did you avoid CA sales tat when the phone is being shipped to Los Angeles?  I had to pay sales tax which was $48. And I also used a NZ credit card.

Fedex called today to say it would be delivered tomorrow but needs a signature. Also nobody is home since we are en route to Las Vegas for CES so I won't see it until Saturday hopefully.

That will simply be the foreign conversion rates. Most banks are around 2.5% which is a combination of two different charges - typically 1% and 1.5%

That's an interesting development. :"multiple accounts" and "same Google customer number".

How many times did you try to buy something? :-)

just once :S ah well scanning in some ID now |-(  They also want me to download, print, fill in and sign, a form and then get it signed by a notary public. This is proving to be very inconvenient! >.<

Well my phone has arrived but since I am in Vegas I wont see it until tomorrow night. I will pop in my VF sim and play with it a bit but given the exorbitant charges for roaming data might not be able to play much with it. But friend has ATT service so could pop in his SIM card to try out.

Back home on Tuesday so that's when I can check out how well it runs on VF.

Hi all

Well thanks to jamesyb0i I have got my Google Nexus One, when I say I have got it my girl friend in Arizona has just signed for it from FedEx. She returns to Auckland next Wednesday.

The process was just as jamesyb0i posted.

1 Register Google Checkout account, location OK to put as New Zealand, entered my NZ Visa details and then put where my girlfriend was staying as delivery address which has to be in the US.  Note this was a private residential address, but I can see no problem to this being a hotel/motel.

2. Download Hot Spot Shield and installed.

3. Went to Google Nexus One phone site and instead of saying not available in your location, it had a big green button saying GET ONE.  Pressed this and completed the order.  Order email sent to me at 9:06 am on Friday 8th Jan.  Received another email at 11:33 am same day saying order has been shipped, and at 10:00 this morning get confirmation it has been delivered.

4. The cost was US$529 + $29.62 AZ state tax, on my visa a charge of NZ$781.

Hope this helps, the secret is having a friend in the US who can recieved and bring it back or post it on.
