martyyn: Some of these are fantastic but to ask a complete n00b question, do you need to root your phone for this or is it just a case of using a new launcher....or is that one and the same !!

I need to spend some time cruising the Andriod forums and getting up to date with the lingo :)

The widgets and wallpapers don't require root.

The alternate Home apps and many launchers (I'm making a distinction between Home apps and Launchers as launchers appear to be sub-sets of a full-blown Home replacement - I may be wrong there) don't require root....and they generally have hundreds of themes. Many themes have been written for multiple Home apps...so a theme for Open Home will work work with aHome and maybe Panda home...and so on, while apps like GDE Home and DxTop have themes that aren't compatible with others. Each theme has its own icons and often wallpaper, too.....though you can always load up whatever wallpaper you want.

But most of the "looks" posted here are absolutely possible on unrooted phone. It's the screenshots that are easier if you have root access. :-)

What the apps generally can't do is change the colour of system parts like the Notification bar. That's in the system framework and you do need root access to alter or replace that.

BTW....it's usually / often possible to root the stock ROM on your phone so you have full system access - as distinct from wiping and flashing the firmware with an entirely different system.

Pink Concept for Galaxy S

I'm working on this. What do you reckon?

I need help with modding switchpro -> pink

And also not sure which home icon app I should use for replacing the home icons, do any of them come with a pink theme. I might mod all the application icons, currently I've just made icons for the dock.

I like to keep mine quite minimal

Its CM6.0.0 with Launcher Pro. I'm having trouble deciding between LP and ADW but LP seems slightly snappier in most circumstances.

Please: If anyone couldl post a screen with a plain black background. showing the default launcher pro icons in the dock with a black background that would be great. I don't have ability to take shortcuts, and I want to edit the icons in photoshop, but need them on a black background. If possible save with minimal compression artifacts.

Here's my Home screen of the moment.

It's Launcher Pro with my apps on the dock.
The background is part of a photo I took passing through Glenfield (North Shore) on Monday evening when walking home from work.
Beautiful Widgets Home with the binary clock skin gives the time, date, place and weather.

Here's my CM 6.0 home screen. Thinking of changing back to a sense UI based ROM - they appear to run faster... Also I can't seem to install APKs from the SD card for some reason... no installer will install. I've tried AppInstaller and it just crashes.

Have you tried eoeAppInstaller? Another one I tried tonight was: tAttachApkInstaller. This was suggested by TweetDeck when I installed their Beta version of TD for Android (which works perfectly).

Hi All

Here are my screen shots of my Dell Streak, this theme is based on Honeycomb 3.0. Used Adobe Fireworks to make background and added white icons then used Desktop VisualizeR and blank icons to link to Apps. Main icons are Faenze iconset, Beautiful Widget on Main Screen, WinAmp Mod Transparent on Left Screen and Twitter Widget on Right Screen. Bottom right corner is Clockr widget.

Top Icons
> Google Icon top left oepns Google Search
> Mic Icon opens Voice Search
> App button opens App draw

Right Side Icon
> Home icons goes to default screen (Main Screen)
