lets be honest though, technology is moving in leaps and bounds at the moment. i work in this industry and i stil have to do extra research to keep up with it all, just compare what a high end mobile of today can do compared to 10 years ago

and android is the epitome of this latest wave of technology

i can totaly understand being nervous about it all(i dont agree but i understand)

this is where a signature goes

Back on the original post, I see Telecom have a full page Andriod ad in todays Dom Post.

telecom dont have the iphone so it looks like they are pushing the android instead. only thing they could have done really

This is where and how Apple's exclusive vendor strategy has hurt them.....particularly in also deciding to ignore CDMA providers.

Sure....CDMA is dying but there are still over 200 million people on CDMA networks. Those providers have gone Android HUGELY....and have been selling heaps.

Then add on the GSM networks who also can't sell iPhone...and that's a LOT of people and network operators who have every incentive to get behind another option for their users.

Which is one of the reasons that Android is the fastest growing smartphone OS at the moment - because of Apple's exclusive deals with specific carriers.

"Can't (or won't) go with carrier X even though I would love an iPhone, so what else is out there that's comparable. Ooh, look! Android. And I can go with Carrier W or Carrier Y or Carrier Z. Choice. Literally."

That's the great thing about it, many people are finding the freedom and choice liberating, especially (like myself) after being locked in by the likes of iOS to a strict set of rules / regulations.

Some days I want a live wallpaper, other days I don't, but I like the fact I can at least choose to have it or not on the days I do / dont ... For example ;)

Soo... staying on the off topic for one more post...
Apples carrier exclusivity has also allowed them to tightly control the price on the street.... virtually any street.

Androids wide selection of manufacturers, model variants and Network operators has seen better pricing competition across all markets. (Though I suspect the handset margins aren't as good for the vendors.)

I'm unsure on the iPhone w/Contracts but i can say that apple products (mac, ipod etc) all have barely any margin on them for the retailers themselves, the majority of this margin is pocketed by apple.
