n4: Wifi or Wifi+3g?

The Acer guy at a recent Android meeting said the WiFi would be through the shops and the WiFI + 3G would be through carriers (if any take it on).

That may have changed....but that was the plan. If no carriers took it on, then I have no idea what they would do then.

Got my 32GB Wifi - Going well..

Anyone else pick one up?

Im impressed by the screen (wasn't expecting much - especially coming from their notebook displays)

honeycomb needs a bit of work its 3.01 - but it still feels like a Beta.

picked one up from Mt Wellington yesterday. I'm very impressed by the build quality, and loving honeycomb.

So far, I've managed to copy some photos from my camera onto the device using the USB 2.0 port. Ive also copied some mp3s from a usb stick.

I've also got my bluetooth iGo Stowaway keyboard working with it, which I'm very pleased about.

I've not yet managed to get any video playing on the device, so I'm a little disappointed by the lack of built in codecs.

Hopefully the next update from honeycomb will bring some improvements.

overall, pretty pleased, and looking forward to showing my colleagues what they should have bought instead of an iPad :-)

Is it 16 or 32GB and how much did you pay?

32G was $949 from Harvey Norman.

Getting from Overseas is an option, although you won't be covered by the consumer guarantees act. You need to decide if its worth the savings.

No real point, you'll actually cost yourself more:

16GB in NZD from harveys $799

16GB from BestBuy:449USD + $8.99USD Shipping + $43.87 Sales tax(Shipping using Shipito) + $8.50 Shipito + $55 postage = Currently 707.505 NZD + Gst(15%) + ITF($38) = $851NZD, with all warranty returns having to be shipped back to BestBuy through Shipito or another online shipping company

Nah no real point, the Iconias are selling for a premium overseas too, for mobile phones most places like the UK/US are cheaper, but for most tablets, it seems that NZ is cheaper(Apart from the Transformer from Amazon or the Galaxy Tab 7" from Australia $299AUD)

I'd say it's likely to be available cheaper from other sources before long. Parallel importers and the like.

Harvey Nornan Dunedin has both the 16GB and 32GB Iconia's.  Mine is now sitting on charge.
Can't wait to have a proper play with it.

HN Wairau Park (Auckland) had a 32GB Iconia on display but the price was $999.  At least I was able to compare it to a 32GB iPad2.
An article I read on the Iconia said it doesn't do Flash (yet).  Would a download of Flash 10.2 that appears on the the android Market solve that or do we have to wait for an OS update?

I bought a 32GB one (Wifi only) and the battery life seems really good.  Plugging in a keyboard works very well, although it's not necessary if you can place it well on your lap or whatever, to type.  The soft keyboard is super fast and I can't get over how good the sound is (not through the built in speakers but headphones or other)!

It would be nice if it had a little stand at the back or some rubber at the bottom on the back so it didn't slide if you want to angle it towards you.  I may be imagining it, but the wifi seems slower if the access point is directly behind the device.

It's invaluable for testing software.

I was unimpressed with Honeycomb at first, but once I have got ot grips with it, it's quite nice.  I guess it's just not as intuitive as pre Honeyomb Android.

The worst thing probably is that it's not explained (anywhere I could see) that you need this software to move files to and from the deivce over USB on a Mac:

TVNZ on Demand works on it...  I assume that's flash, but not sure.

I'm having a problem installing Kindle. Says - the requested page for the app cannot be found or similar. Even though it appears in the market.
