In the new Harvey Norman mailer i noticed the Acer Iconia which says available from 20th April
16GB - $799
32GB - $949

It also states that it has a 10.1" screen ( which i guess makes it the A500 not the A100 unless thats a typo)

Other important specs:

Android 3.0 Honeycomb
Tegra 2 dual core CPU
1GB Ram
USB, Micro SD and HDMI ports
5MP rear + 2 MP front Cameras

The 16Gb model will appararntly sell for AU$579 according to PC World Australia  so were getting a pretty reasonale price.

Sweet device! It has all the features that you would ever need. Wonder how good the battery life will be.

n4: Wifi or Wifi+3g?

for that price,  probably the Wifi.

Googling the model,it seems the USA version has '4G', but given that is US carriers that probably just means HSPA+or something.
Still,  if we get that version in NZ that could mean 21Mbps+ speeds which is pretty cool, and much faster than the ipad 3G

Did I miss the NZ press announcement or was there just none? Seems like NZ's first honeycomb tablet should have a bit more publicity...

It should have more publicity, but then its name doesn't start with an ' i '
I will be checking it out anyway, the added USB and HDMI port are selling points for me

Certainly ticks most of my boxes.

Dual core
Honeycomb
USB
HDMI
Dual Cameras
SD Expansion to 32GB

The W500 has an ethernet port, does the A500?

People mention it being chunky. I assume that is compared to an iPad2 and in reality is probably not that chunky. [update: 13.3mm thick, fairly chunky for a tablet but I like sturdy]
8 Hour battery sounds ok for me. Way better than my netbook.

Is it definitely the 10.1" A500 at Harvey's?

It doesn't actually say the model, but I'm guessing its the A500.
13.3mm thick is not too bad, as long as it feels like its not going to break, its all good to me.

I also think it must be the A500 10 inch as those have popped up on pricespy
No sign of the 7" A100. I'm after a 7" honeycomb so maybe A100 or Asus Memo

Anyone what version of Android the HTC Flyer will use?

One more day until release. Who is planning on buying one?  I'm considering it, the only downside I believe is the lack of 3G, but I could always tether it to my Galaxy S

Has anyone actually confirmed with HN that they will have this physically in stock tomorrow, the webs are rife with "delayed until May" rumours on this product,

Planning to get one but not on release day as I had some unexpected large expenses crop up.
It's for the best as I would prefer to read what existing Android users think of it first and also I have seen it marginally cheaper on Pricespy. assuming those companies advertising it get stock in on the 20th.

Yeah I had the same thing happen with a large expense. I'm going to go check it out anyway and decide from there.

I was quite tempted by it but then saw the one Asus is about to release (Asus Transformer, with optional keyboard dock) which is supposed to have a much better screen, and is Asus, which by experience I'v always preferred to Acer.

Problem is I couldn't find a definite release date on this so not sure how long I'd have to wait...

But Iconia looks pretty good. I think I'll go check it out at HN as well. Hopefully it's not delayed...
