I played with one at Noel Leeming today. It was $799 for 16G or $999 for 16G+3G. On the back was a Vodafone logo so that gives you an idea of what provider it's designed for.

NL surprised with having all on one table, the Toshiba, Blackberry, Samsung and Acer tablets to compare with.

Hey John,

I hear it comes preloaded with the Kindle app. Are you able to make notes along the margin of a book like you can using the ibook application on the Ipad 2? On the ipad2 it looks like a little square post it on the side of the page, then you press it and up comes a written note.

Or does the note taking feature put a postscript number above the place you highlighted and work that way?

You can add a note in the kiddle app by long pressing on text, and then choosing to add a note. I've attached a image of what it looks like.kindle app

Hey Athor,

How does it look once you have made the note?

Are those blue markers what indicates the note?

I was really disappointed with the speed of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at Noel Leemings. Compared with the Acer Iconia next to it, it felt sluggish and jittery when navigating between home screens and just general navigation. The Acer on the other hand seemed smooth as silk.

I don't know if that was just because the GTab was the lower specc'd P1010 or that the 3G P1000 also suffers from the lag. Either way I wasn't all that impressed at the speed of it. Physically it looks great.

Hmm, thats weird. Looked at the Acer today at JB Hifi queen street, was laggy as god knows what. Maybe they haven't updated the Acer in store to the latest version of Honeycomb?

Dissappointed to hear of lag on the Tab. I absolutely despise lag - no way I'm paying 800+ dollars for a tablet that lags.

The P1010 is the old 7" model, which doesn't run honeycomb. The new one just released is a 10.1" p7510 (3g) or p7500.

I don't think the speed of the galaxy tab 10.1 is anything to write home about either. My friends transformer seems slightly faster. But hopefully samsung will fix that with future updates.

Bringing me closer and closer to buying an iPad, bah.

Rang JB Hifi Queen street, they had no idea when their Tab's were coming in. What the hell is wrong with Samsung?

It doesn't lag to the point of frustration for me. The animations could be smoother, compared to the ipad2 or wp7. But thats just android. Something I have forever been hoping they will fix.

Sorry, thanks for clearing that up. Somehow I knew that but didn't put two and two together.
