The implication seems to be that you don't get audio through 3 segment 3.5mm plugs, but you do through 4 segment ones. In my experience, 3 segment plugs worked fine before the update and continue to work after it. It does seem to take a fraction longer for them to be detected (and the headset icon to appear in the notification bar) now.

Unfortunately not the case. Yes it's true that the 4 segment one works (without much delay) the 3 doesn't do anything. Used to work fine before the update without any issue.

Try another device. I tried HD 598 headphones. The "headset detected" notification appears, and audio is played through the cans.

Tried 3x normal 3.5mm leads (and both ends just to be sure) and 3x headsets.  Same result everytime, headset works, leads do not. This is while the leads are plugged into something (incase they're expecting a resistance of some form?)

Tried three other sets of standard headphones and they all worked, but I've replicated the issue (3 segment male-male 3.5mm lead to a hifi amp). Evidently it's device specific and has nothing to do with 3 vs 4 segment plugs. Tonight I will test it on a Lollipop SU6 just to verify that it worked before.

You could always get a bluetooth receiver (the Logitech one is less than $50). That's probably a better system anyway, because from memory the stupid nanny-state volume warning thing was always resetting the analogue level to 75% when I tried to use an Android device with an amp that way.

I'm having same issue, i use 3 segment plug cord to output phone thru PC into desktop speakers, post update it doesn't work as it did before. Unfortunately I like to listen to radio at work which needs the cord for aerial so wireless options are not viable :(

is the only MM issue so far so benefits outweigh the issues still

The vast majority of radio stations are streamable online, if you're playing it through a PC, why don't you just stream the station on the PC?

Verified no problem detecting with the same cable to the same amp on Lollipop SU6.

I can imagine that this has the potential to piss off a lot of people with car head units that are new enough to have an aux port but too old to have bluetooth.

That's funny, our office is in a location that doesn't get great FM reception, hence why the ol SU6 was used to stream 'radio' while plugged into to the stereo.

What sort of idle battery drain were you guys seeing prior to the marshmallow update? I remember testing mine a long time ago when it was working properly, but I neglected to note the result. I have recent results from when i was testing the onedrive app:

Lollipop without Onedrive: 11% in 8 hours

Lollipop with Onedrive: 20% in 8 hours

However, the phone was already pretty messed up by that point (with the notification issues etc.) and I'm quite certain it was nowhere near 11% originally.

Now with Marshmallow and no Onedrive: 3% in 8 hours

Speaking of my notification issues, I think they're still screwed on Marshmallow. Just now I log into my gmail account on a PC, and the moment I do so the phone pops up the notification for an email received 30 minutes ago. (this is the gmail app on the phone). I don't know why accessing the account on a PC should prompt the phone to finally notify.

Okay, updated my SU6 to Marshmallow but it won't now access my data storage on my SD card. Took it into local Vodafone store but they can't get it to work either. I suppose I can backup everything, re-format and start all over again (grr!) but maybe a friendly Geek here has a better/simpler idea please??

My SD card works without issue, but I did the update without it inserted, factory reset the phone, and reformatted the SD card before reinserting.

Mine updated fine, but battery drain when using is excessive compared to before the move to Marshmallow.

I have timezone set to auto, but after the upgrade it puts my phone to CET (UTC+1). Had to set timezone manually. 2degrees

From 100% it takes mine 7 hours SOT to get to 15% while streaming 1080p Youtube on WiFi with minimum brightness.

I have an old Lollipop result from streaming the same video (100% to 1% in 5 hours), but I neglected to note the screen brightness, so now I'm going to have to re-run the test on a Lollipop SU6.

Also I mentioned an additional 10% battery usage caused by OneDrive on Lollipop. Now on Marshmallow it makes no difference whether OneDrive is installed or not, it's always 3% for 8 hours idle.
