The need to have VoLTE connectivity has forced me to abandon my Sailfish OS Sony Xperia 10 iii for an S25.

Even though I'm not a big Google fan, so far so good and with already using Galaxy tablets it's not too much of a change.

What opinion does everyone have re using Google Messages vs Samsung Messages from the Samsung Store?

As an example of why I ask, I use Samsung Calendar which I much prefer to the likes of Googles offering.

In order to get a better understanding I'd be keen to know your reasons why

Try both and see which you prefer, switching between them is easy.

For me, the Google Messages web integration is great - I use this all the time to get my SMS on PC. The RCS support is also great - you get a better experience with other Android users. And there are some neat improvements when chatting with iPhone users - e.g. if an iMessage user "likes" your message, Google Messages will figure this out and add a thumbs up to your message.

Some of those things might also work with Samsung Messages, since it's based off Google Messages anyway, but I found Google Messages better.

And btw - I also use Samsung Calendar over Google's Calendar app.

I have used both and had issues with RCS on Samsung messages and then changed to Google messages and all issues went away

@ amanzi and @ Linux, Thank you for your replies. I'll give both a try but from what you have posted Google Messages might be it.

Currently nothing for 2degrees. Maybe tomorrow.

Downloading now, thanks! My primary SIM is One NZ but I have a Skinny eSIM active as well, not sure if that contributes.

Just a heads up in case you miss it. For most of you who, like me, got your phones at Launch, your 12 month 'free' subscription to Samsung/Google AI 2TB plan will auto renew at !! $36.99 !! a month! Starting with the first charge on the 25th September.

The URL to prevent this is https://myaccount.google.com/intro/payments-and-subscriptions
