Hi guys.  I've got a brand new Pixel 6 Whitestone Dome Glass 2 pack for sale if anybody is keen?  $55 + postage (it cost me $72.48)

For whatever reason, I ordered the Pixel 6 version instead of the Pixel 6 Pro version from Mobile Fun.

Flick me a message if you're keen.  Thanks.

I'm looking to upgrade my OnePlue 6T and considering a P6P.

Apart from the known issue with 5G and VoLTE support in NZ, are P6P purchaser happy with their purchase?

Also, what is the best way to purchase a P6P?

I love mine.

I bought it through Big Apple Buddy which is where I previously got my 3XL

I purchased my 5a from Expansys. Based in HK with .NZ website. Coincidentally they are advertising a 6 pro special on one colour. Most likely it will be sourced from Japan like mine with the annoying shutter sound.

https://www.expansys.co.nz/google-pixel-6-pro-5g-dual-sim-12gb-128gb-sorta-sunny-368036/?utm_campaign=NZ%20-%2005%2F17%20Clearance%20Special%20EDM&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter

Btw Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a are announced. One reason for reducing stock.

My son got his 6 from Dick Smith and he had to root to remove the shutter sound. His phone is randomly rebooting several times a day and he has reset it a few times. So I have requested a warranty repair and was unsure how well that would go. But after a bunch of diagnostic emails they agreed it was likely the phone was faulty and sent over a prepaid mailing label to send the phone to Auckland for assessment and possible replacement. I will see how well that goes.

Random rebooting is not something that can be diagnosed and reproduced easily.

It'll be interesting to see whether the enabling of VoLTE for roaming will result in VoLTE support being enabled when using a local SIM card.

Would be good, especially as their June 2022 software update which enabled VoLTE roaming on Pixel phones also went out to my Pixel 4a. Obviously the "if it’s supported by carriers" part is the crucial bit.

Got the mailing label, sent the phone back and it went into the ether. Tracking showed it arrived at some location in Auckland but the fix place never got it. NZ Post said it arrived at the address on the label and then they said it might have been sent to Australia!  Anyway Dick Smith couldn't find it and then wanted to offer me a store credit since they said they had no replacement P6's. But their web sit shows they have.

Anyway since my son was not 100% happy with the P6 (he might have got a bad one) we pressured DS and they in the end will give me a full refund minus the $39 shipping from OZ which they said was not refundable since it had been more than three months since the purchase.

Offtopic I had a similar experience different Google product with DSE offering store credit when the same item appeared to be in stock. It did occur to me currency fluctuation could have been a factor. The current stock was higher price than when I purchased In my case low cost item and I was happy with store credit anyway.

With the 6a on pre order via Google Australia; has anyone managed to order a phone from Google in the past and get it shipped to a shipping forwarder?

I see that Kogan/Dick Smith have items available, but I don't want to get stuck with a Japanese version if I can help it since the 6a is being released in a lot more countries.

I looked at a couple of import places from the USA but since the exchange rate is terrible, it turned $450US into over $1200NZ with shipping and taxes

Could try  https://www.shipito.com/en/

Note the 6 and 6Pro were sold in Oz but Dick Smith still sold the Japanese model and I guess even though the 6A is being sold in Oz, Dick Smith will still probably sell the Japanese one as they are not apparently official dealers.

Shipito used to be fantastic, I feel they've gone downhill in recent times YMMV of course (pricewise and service).

That being said, i'm damn keen for a Google Pixel 6a...am I just better off buying it via Google Play Store in Australia and then getting a friend in Aussie send it over to me?

Only if AusPost aren't as anal as NZPost and are willing to send over a phone in the mail.
