I read that it's OK to leave charging at 100% but that will probably only happen once I get a wireless charger. I just want to be on it all the time so it's not getting idle time sitting on a charger lol

Anyone done any research on a wireless charger yet? Energizer one is looking pretty good and available now.

peejayw: Battery seems to have improved after a few cycles, currently showing 56% after 10hrs. I am only seeing a weather card pop up in Google Now, perhaps there are some settings I have missed.

It learns what you like to do from your searches. So you need to use Chrome (I think) and logon to Google when you use Chrome so it can learn your searches.

Like another poster I like NFL and specifically the 49'ers. So I just searched on them a couple of times and how their upcoming games appear in Google Now

Ditto also on the experience with drive times to work, home, and other places I have looked up.

For those using ASB who updated their billing address online, how did they handle the post code and state? ASB doesn't seem to provide a place to put state even if you choose US so I put state in the city field instead and city in the address 3 field. And the post code/zip code seems to fail to save and ends up as 09999 no matter what I put. (09999 is rejected by Google as an invalid Zip code.)

In any case, my transaction seems to have failed, Google Wallet seems to say it was rejected by my bank. I don't know if it's because of the billing address issue or it was caught by ASB fraud prevention for some reason. I just recently moved to Mastercard from a Visa card so I have no idea if my card is more sensitive or whatever. My mate had no problem with his ASB Visa Debit. (Edit:Without changing any details, there doesn't seem to be any address details for the Visa Debit either because there's no such thing as a billing address for a Debit card as someone mentioned or because it's the same as for the bank account it's linked to.)

Is there anyone who used shipito when ordering a N4?
How much did you pay for shipping + that $8.50 fee?
I've ordered my one off the play store. Just wanting to know if it actually went through, haha.
I got the email/receipt for it in my gmail account, but there is no way of telling that any money was deducted from my bank account.
Oh well....

You have to change the address type to overseas. That will allow you to type the address that youshop has provided.

It seems to have worked for me as google processed my transaction.

I think you're missing my point. I changed address type to overseas otherwise I couldn't choose United States as country. It still doesn't have any field for state and as I said has the post code problem.

I think you're missing my point. I changed address type to overseas otherwise I couldn't choose United States as country. It still doesn't have any field for state and as I said has the post code problem.

Sorry. :) In my case I didn't put down the state but it seemed to have got accepted. I put Portland (the city of my youshop address) in the city field. Also I used a Visa, so I'm not sure if Master card could be the issue.

Per Google policy and other experience, money should not be deducted until the phone is ready to ship by Google. You will probably get an authorisation hold for the full amount (also called preauthorisation), but that will expire after a few days. If the authorisation hold work, it should work in the future. But you can't be sure if it's going to work until it does a few weeks from now (depending on when you ordered). This also means you should either make sure you have enough money in your account (if a debit card) or you don't get too close to your credit limit. I'm not entirely sure whether Google will give you another chance to fix it if fails after you've waited so long.

BTW, regarding my earlier problem, I later tried my old Visa credit card. (As stated, I'm moving to Mastercard from Visa. My Visa hasn't yet been cancelled.) I didn't bother to change address this time in ASB (still my real NZ address) and it still worked. I guess ASB Visa does no billing address verification but perhaps the ASB Mastercard does. (Obviously using my Visa card which is going to be cancelled soon isn't going to work particularly well.) Of course it could be some other problem with my Mastercard relating to the fact I'm in the middle of changing although most other stuff I've done worked fine including Paypal and Desura (I did actually have a problem buying a second copy of Windows 8) and I've used my Mastercard card once since a few of the failures.

One option that may work but is fairly risky is after Google fails the authorisation hold and puts your order on hold, you can update your details. It doesn't seem to care if you put a New Zealand billing address now. Of course when it comes around to charge it, perhaps Google will cancel the order. And there's no guarantee it will work anyway, perhaps it will still be rejected for some reason. I see no sign Google actually tried an authorisation hold again in Google Wallet (although ASB provides woefully little information on their online statement), and one time when I didn't change the billing address it didn't seem to try again after a short time (well I mean it didn't fail again).

I could call ASB and ask what's up but again it's a bit risky. Perhaps they'll fix it now somehow but if they don't do it properly it may fail again when it comes to the actual payment. So despite the small number of lost True Reward points and interest, I'm just going to get my mate to use his Visa Debit card, seems safer. In any case, I think Google has semiblacklisted my Mastercard because I was trying too many times to see if I could convince it to work.

So in conclusion if you have an ASB Mastercard credit card, you may be SOL. If you have an ASB Visa credit or debit card, you don't have to bother changing your address in ASB it seems.

Edit: Forgot to mention, one thing I tried, early on before it stopped accepting my Mastercard is to change back my details in ASB to my proper NZ one and but still use the US billing address in Google. I.E. The same thing I did for Visa and my flatmate does for his Visa Debit. This didn't work either.

Also wikipedia has an article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Address_Verification_System . It doesn't mention anything about NZ but interesting enough it does suggest only the numeric details are verified. Which suggests the inability to save zip code in ASB may be an issue. Which is another thing I forgot to mention, considering the timeframe involved, if I do have to change my ASB details it's going to be fairly annoying since I may not be able to use it for other things. Another strike in favour of my mates Visa debit/not having to change my address in ASB. I was actually trying to use my NZ details (except for state, country of course, fortunately if I add a zero in front of my post code which is what ASB seems to do anyway, it's a valid zipcode for Puerto Rico) as my billing address in Google with my Mastercard but it had stopped working by then.

I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and my impressions coming from my SGS2 are as follows:

Physical dimensions & build:

- Still able to be used with one hand with reasonable ease, I would say my hands are average in size for a male.
- Heft is about right, 'not too heavy, not too light'
- Build quality feels and looks good, no/very little perceptible play in components or large seams and materials feel premium
- Still no scratches after a couple of weeks with no case - I have a screen protector and bumper which should be arriving shortly and my impression so far is that I feel these are must have items unless you don't mind chips scratches and the possibility of shattered glass. Also a bumper or case would presumably assist with stopping the thing sliding off smooth surfaces which are not perfectly level as may others have commented online.

Screen:

- Saturation vs SAMOLED is noticeably lower but more natural looking
- Black levels are poor vs SAMOLED, I was expecting this but still disappointing
- Increased DPI is not overly noticeable to myself , arguably in daily usage unless you tend to view you handset at shoulder lever then it is not a material improvement IMO
- Colour reproduction in general is better (as in more accurate) than the SGS2

Battery:

- Battery life is better than the SGS2 but I have not performed quantitative testing of this. I would estimate for the same daily usage I would get 20% more battery life from the NEXUS 4 then the equivalent SGS2. This is one of the more difficult elements for me to judge as my handset charges overnight and all day in the office
- Charging times are comparable to the SGS2

Performance:

- Store read/write performance seems noticeably faster than the SGS2
- UI is slightly smoother, my SGS2 was running 4.1 however and the difference is not material IMO
- Browsing was significantly faster using WiFi to ensure network conditions were not materially different (I changed network provider when switching handsets). Browser UI significantly smoother on nexus 4 for pages with a large number of complex elements.

Network:

- Wifi: Equivalent or slight better then SGS2
- 2G/3G: Difficult to gauge as moved network providers at the same time as handsets. I do get coverage slightly deeper into London Overground's underground sections, however that could very well be better network coverage.

GPS:

- GPS is night and day, this is a stand out feature for me in how quickly locks are obtained and the accuracy. Locks are typically obtained in ~5 seconds and accuracy is normally 2-5 meters. Sensor assisted navigation is accurate and navigation is a pleasure even on London roads.

Camera:

- Camera image quality is acceptable in the most part, however low light performance is perhaps a slight step back from the SGS2. Overall slightly disappointing

4.2:

- As I came from 4.1 the upgrade is not significant, however looking at Google's stock version of the OS now I cant help but feel this is the first time I can view this a a completely professional and slick offering in all aspects and a viable alternative for many to iOS (if competing on a level playing field in all other aspects)
- Google Now is truly handy and surprisingly intuitive. It is not hard to see how this is just the start of the curve for these sorts of intelligent assistants - exciting but also slight disconcerting.

Overall:

My SGS2 was the longest I have had a mobile handset for some years, principally because it was such a good handest and there was nothing really worth upgrading to out there in my opinion.

The Nexus 4 was the first handset I felt had sufficiently material upgrades in all all areas with the unfortunate exception of the camera. I am pleased to say that it has met my expectations in all regards.

Lol i just used youshop as my billing address as they only take US addresses. And my shipping method is shipito warehouse weird how you guys gotta do that 0.o

And I am with ASB using debit card

See my comment above, I did choose the overseas option hence why I could choose country (US). You can't choose US if you don't choose 'overseas'. BTW, your screenshot illustrates one of my problems. You can clearly see there is no state field. Choosing United States does not add a state field. The only option is to use Address 3 for city and address City for stated. Or don't put state.

As per my later comment, this doesn't seem to matter for Visa anyway. It may or may not matter for Mastercard but the state stuff probably doesn't since evidentally only the numeric details are verified. Except that at least for me, ASB simply refuses to save my post code in the overseas address function, or at least when I choose US as the country (didn't try any other countries). It always becomes 09999 after saving no matter what I enter (well I only tried 3 different things, one of them was to put the statecode and 5 digit zipcode since the example given is AB12345).

Weird... What address did you put?
When I used a mixture of youshop for billing and shipito for shipping I rang up just in case and they said everything looks good cause they also deducted $$$

Is that Mastercard or Visa? And BTW what do you mean wouldn't accept your details? From my experience, if Google Wallet is having problems because your address verification failed or the transaction is otherwise rejected by the bank, what happens is it processes your order then you it says it failed (you get an email saying you made an order then another saying it failed) and you need to update your credit card details within 7 days. However as I mentioned, after you have updated the details, you have no way of knowing if it worked or not since Google doesn't seem to try again. (I've also heard others say the same thing.) Your best bet is to cancel the order and start againt to make sure.

As I understand it, until a authorisation hold has been attempted, I don't think it attempts to verify your details (as per the wikipedia article, I don't think they can just send the details for verification, they need to make some attempt at an authorisation hold to verify the details). Or in other words, it needs to fail after you've chosen payment option, shipping address and everything and chosen to checkout. If it fails when you're attempting to add credit card I don't think that's an indication verification failed (at least not for my experience/understanding).

The cause of the 'We couldn't start your purchase because of a technical issue.'/'Sorry, we were unable to process this request.' or other problems when trying to add credit card details, I haven't worked out precisely, I think there are various reasons. But it may include if Google has blacklisted your credit card as I think they eventually did for me.
