coolcat21: I will now spam-call that 0800 number posted in the youshop thread to try to get the Customs Entry number.

Customs Entry number? Plz explain, I've never had anything over the $60 threshold come through customs!

Finally took the plunge and went down to my local WHS to preorder my N5 - first time I can remember when I've bought a new phone without physically holding it in my hand first.

The number of shops offering these on Pricespy exploded yesterday, with Parallel Imported even fronting up with a 32 GB version. However their website notes that they don't hold stock and there is 7 - 10 day delivery time.

Finally decided that I don't really need the 32 GB, I've got by with 16 on my GN and a cheap OTG cable should cover any other eventualities. WHS offers the quickest and lowest risk option - as long as they stick to their launch date of 15 Nov.

That was quick. Is it no good? Speed tests looked good.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Also worth noting that they can't confirm whether this is the D820 or D821 model, which seems completely bizarre that they wouldn't have this information. Does anyway know from the specs listed whether it is the international version? I guess that could just be copied and pasted from anywhere, so might not be reliable anyway...

Just got another reply from them. Turns out they're not actually getting the 32GB model after all, so will be updating the website, however, they confirmed that it's the international version. So much for that!

So far the best option for the 32GB is still BecexTech.
Last they told me the 32GB will be in stock as advertised on 15th :)

Yeah, it is now! Parallel Imported does free shipping, so it would have been the better deal. Oh well.

Another update - they MAY be getting the 32GB model, but they won't know for sure until they have them in stock. I think I'm going to go for the BecexTech option at this stage...

Has anybody's phone cleared customs yet? What's the process? Do they send a letter? Can it be done online to speed things up? Mine's just arrived but I'm wondering how long I'll be waiting before it's in my grubby paws. :)

Still waiting for mine to get to NZ, should be here in the next couple of days though!

As for customs: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=112371
From what I gather they'll send you a letter but it could be faster if you spend a bit of time on the phone

From my experience last year when I bought my N4 using YouShop. Well, it just came straight through customs and was with me two days after I got the message to say it had arrived in nz. It was a16gb so was over the customs threshold as well. But then earlier this year when I bought my wife's phone (not using YouShop) I had to wait for customs to send me a letter asking for duty to be paid which you can do over the phone.
There must be a percentage of parcels that get through undetected. Or perhaps I was just lucky once, who knows but I'm hoping that the same thing will happen again soon as my N5 will be hitting nz any day soon

Am in the same boat as you- just landed in NZ today. I'm waiting on my tracking to change to waiting for clearance and then I'll give them a call.
