I can do the airport mode on my gear s2 :P

I have the same watch.. love it..

Works really well with S8+ too..

Just bought a Gear S3 for sh**s and giggles. Will be interested to see what that is like to live with. Not sure it is essential for me - I am not at all someone who has a panic attack if I do not see a notification for several hours much less instantly - but thought it would be fun to see what it's like because, as Wilde said, you should try everything in life at least once except incest and country dancing...

Wish we could get the LTE version of the Gear. So Dick Tracey being able to make calls on my watch...!

It's possibly starting to go OT, but I am interested by the integration between the Gear S3 and the S8. It might mean I wouldn't have to root my S8.
At the moment the main Tasker functions I use that require root are for toggling Data or Airplane Mode. This is done in different circumstances whether in car mode, home mode or work mode. Sometimes initiated by location, sometimes by connections and sometimes manually from my smartwatch. But the modes also change wallpapers, watchfaces, volumes, brightness, etc.
So looking at the Gear S3, I assume by what has been said above, that you can toggle Airplane Mode. Does that turn all the radios off? Because you have then severed the Bluetooth connection with the watch. Or does it allow you to set what turns off? My set up toggles airplane mode but then turns Bluetooth back on since airlines allow that now.
What about data? Can that be toggled from the S3? Does the S3 have the equivalent of Wear Tasker, which allows it to run complex macros to remotely control the phone? After all, that would make Samsung's walled garden approach slightly more valuable.
I have been coveting the Gear S3 for a while, and was hoping there might have been an introductory bundle deal with the S8. Alas I will probably have to wait until they are discounted (QBWE maybe?). I guess I can rationalise it by noting it is Tizen, and therefore the fact I already own 2 Android Wear watches shouldn't matter :-/

I bought mine for the fitness info.. I was diagnosed with a really bad liver.. so docs want to keep an eye out water intake.. heart rate.. sleep etc just to build a bigger picture of my health.. So good being able to just email them a weekly report..

I had some nice black wallpaper that was stock Samsung supplied on the phone.

Had stars entering right to left.

Following the crash referred to above it has vanished. Anyone else noticed anything like that?

Don't have  a s3 but on a gear s2, airport mode will kill bluetooth to the phone but it does say you can manually turn it back on via settings etc.

I feel that the gear s3 is not the device you are looking for.  it does not have something like tasker.

So I was pretty impressed. My phone came off charger at 7:30am yesterday and I plugged it back in at 11:45pm with 18% left. It was a typical day for me, with the mix of calls, texts, emails, gaming etc.

So just went back to the spark store to show them and the bloody thing won't do it now.  They said they can send it away for the firmware to be reflashed.  Told them not to worry as I can do that.  Currently installing the non branded AU (xsa) firmware

Phone definitely seems to perform less slickly after the recent software update.

Well running the xsa firmware now and it seems to be better.  battery life is not as good however.  I expect this is due to the different modem in the firmware.

OOI, why do we not have the LTE version of the Gear? I assume a network issue but wondered why.

Exactly why, plus demand. They will probably sell < 500 G3's in total across NZ. If you bought in 2 SKU's, esp with all the extra testing and cost and marketing, definitely not worth it.

You could just flash back the Spark modem. It is the CP part of the firmware.

When I first booted my S8 and saw the Spark boot logo I immediately turned it off and flashed XSA, been getting 6 hours screen time per charge. Seem really good to me.

Prolly cheaper just buying an S2.. not much of a difference.. I'd rather use my phone than watch for calls..

Plus the battery is small.. so would drain it before you made it home at night..
