robjg63: Aw crap!
I had talked myself into getting a note 3 and was actually intending buying one today.
Wanted one that would work on any carrier (was contemplating skinny) and would work on 4G if that was an option on the carrier (I know skinny havent enabled that yet) but I would like it when it does get enabled.

The drama about the CSC settings and various firmware for various telcos (add in the parallel imported models) has really put me off now. No way am I brave enough to risk bricking a nearly $1k device to try and get it to work as it should.

I was looking at one from parallel imported - I suppose the firmware could be from anywhere in the world and I guess I would be at the mercy of whoever maintains that firmware as to what releases get issued?
The CSC releases for this part of the world would have to be released via that firmware provider to enable 4G as well- is that how it works?
Sad face now :-(

If you want Telecom 4G, your best bet is to get a Telecom-branded unit.

Otherwise I'd suggest getting the parallel import store to test a Telecom 4G SIM in one of their units before you buy to be on the safe side.

so far loving My Note 3 and Gear Smartwatch.
Battery on the Gear is a bit tricky especially when Ive been using the Map my walk app. Did 2 1/2 Marathon walks last weekend 1st day just managed to log my 21 Km walk but 2nd day crapped out due to poor gps coverage.
The Battery on the Gear just lasted the 21 Km walk which was 2 Hrs 48 mins BTW.

Been using my Gear camera a few times since Ive had it last week.
Today I went to shoot a camera shot and noticed it was very hazy. Whaaaat there seems to be water in the lens. Yes I took watch on some big walks this weekend and it yes it appears some water got in it some how. Looking at the camera you can see a water bubble.
Not too worried as its not the best of cameras but shows its not too waterproof. Havnt seen many reports of this to date.
Anyone else with this problem.
I think it will evaporate eventually !!

Hi guys,

My Note 3 is arriving today, bought from Hong kong.

I want to flash stock Telecom NZ Firmware on it, but on Sammobile there is only the 4.3 version. Im wondering if Telecom has pushed out the 4.4.2 update yet or not? So if i flash stock telecom 4.3, would i get an OTA for 4.4.2?

4.4.2 has not been released for any of the three NZ variants yet. Vodafone have not received the update for testing from Samsung at this point.

Be careful with the Hong Kong variants as some of them have different partition layouts due, I believe, to the presence of a 16GB version in that market. You 'should' be okay if it's a 32GB, but it will pay to do some research on this beforehand.

If you flash one of the local software builds and factory reset to ensure the correct settings are applied, you should be good to go for OTA updates, although this is not guaranteed.

id say there would also be a risk of tripping Knox to 0x1 which has happened to some users despite them flashing stock unmodified roms - not sure if youre worried about any warranty claims - i guess by using a HK phone in NZ, youre not worried...?

have you tried clearing the cache and data for action memo (backup your notes first) and restarting?

yes i have tried this many times. everything else works in the air command but the action memo. ive read online some other people overseas are having this problem but they can't fix it either.

id be very surprised if you were able to do this without introducing alot of errors on your new phone. id assume the OS's would need to be exactly the same version before you attempted to restore data across, using Titanium Backup. Otherwise there could be data stored in different formats or libraries that wont match between Android versions. I had trouble restoring across different OS versions on the SAME device let alone a different device. Some apps respond better than others so i guess if youre going to root your device to use TB then you might as well try.

use the Root de la Vega method or One Click root using Mobile Odin as readily available on XDA forums, then install TB, then move your SD card across that has all the backups, then hit restore, and watch the fireworks/smoke...... good luck :)

You could go through app by app and back up to sd. Then restore on new device. I just did a full wipe of my device, backup and restore of sms and call logs etc using apps available on play store.
