Also, knowing how advanced Googles AI is, and throwing that all out (even though I did not have it before) sometimes makes me feel a bit of pain - I purchased this expensive device which is partly priced as it is because of the software - and I don't get to use it.

Google AI isn't worth bothering with right now. It's mostly used to generate wallpapers. It's starting to be used in assistant.

If you use GrapheneOS I am fairly sure the camera software is a lot more basic - coming from a cheap phone its still fantastic, but I doubt anything close to the Pixel with its native software.

Is it not possible to side load Pixel GCam? You can put it on most phones so one would think it should be available on Graphene. Im sure I saw a video a guy showing it on his P8Pro with graphene.

One function I wont get on the 7Pro however is a real Desktop mode similar to Dex, I do wonder if this will be useable in Graphene on the 8 etc.

Dex is still wayyy better, but I think once a few kinks are ironed out and a few features added it will be as good, either way its better than IOS Desktop imo.

Well, at least now we can connect to screen with June feature drop...

Pixel event August 13th

https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/25/24185767/google-pixel-hardware-ai-event-august-date

Just a marketing preview or an actual hardware release who knows.

I reckon just a confirmation of hardware for each model and maybe explaining how the P9 replaces the 8a or the "a" series. Or could surprise us and continue the mid cycle 9a :-)

Not really rumour, august 13. Four phones, but Fold2 is replaced by Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL (its yet to be confirmed the future of the "a" series) along with the Pixel Watch 3.

Google Pixel Watch 3 specs leak - GSMArena.com news

Its all go really, with OP releasing the Nord 4 and OP Watch 2R in 6 days, Samsung with the Ring and Watch 7 end of July (I think their folds too) and then Pixel gear md August. the Nothing CMF Phone and the Nothing CMF Watch Pro 2 released 4 days ago supposedly. Clearly all trying to out do each other with the timing of releases. I assume this is why Pixel has moved its release schedule.

Hoping that the next fold to be revolutionary...the others from moto & samsung doesn't seem to have any more innovation.

Foldable price is an issue. Either some new manufacturing process or new applications are needed for the technology to produce in volume.

At this point I'd be surprised if NZ gets added to the market list for Pixel devices but I can still hope.

I would definitely be a starter for a 9 Pro XL.

The prices going up defeats the affordability argument given the lack luster performance. I think if the 10s new SoC is closer to SD 8 performance then the price rise perhaps will be justifiable

None the less the P8 prices have already come down, does anyone remember how long it took for the P7P to drop to half price of the P8P? I notice the P8P is now down $200 and the 8a is getting close to $700.

Id love one for the 7 years updates and for Graphene, but how likely will the Tensor Gen 2/3 SoC hold up for 7 years of updates?

I should probably mention.

PB Tech now sells the Pixel Watches... Something tells me the Pixels are coming in a slightly more official capacity.

That might be just a reflection of Fitbit related demand.
