Hey team, purchased an S24+ from Amazon Australia for my wife earlier this year, running on 2Degrees - how do I enable VoLTE? She's heading to Melbourne, so wanted to get this set for her to roam. I've looked everywhere I'd expect to see a setting for it, but nothing.  Wifi-calling is there, but no VoLTE - any ideas?

I'm also on 2Degrees, and when I got my OP12 earlier this year, it just worked OOTB.

Assuming you checked under Settings -> Connections -> Mobile networks?

Yeah, I get:

Data roaming

Network mode

Access Point Names

Network operators

Hmm, update - I disabled wifi and it's showing the VoLTE icon, which is great - but there's still no obvious toggle setting?

There should be a VoLTE toggle option that sits between Data roaming & Network mode.

It seems like the S24+ firmware doesn't support 2D VoLTE, can be a hit and miss for handsets bought from overseas.

What was the reason behind buying from Amazon Australia rather than from retailers in NZ?

Does 5G work?

Yeah, mobile connectivity has worked fine since purchasing it - I checked out band compatibility before buying it, which is why I was surprised there's no VoLTE toggle.  Purchased it from Amazon as it was slightly cheaper back in April.  Suspect you're right about the firmware - there's likely just a line of XML missing that's specific to the toggle showing for 2Degrees. Curious as to whether this is the case for devices with the S926BXXU3AXH7 baseband running on Spark/One NZ?

I've got a S24U on OneNZ so don't have the S24+ baseband version for comparison.

Just noticed the VoLTE logo in your photo, so it is somehow enabled already? does that logo stay on when on a call?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yeah, sorry - mentioned that above in an edit to my earlier post, the VoLTE icon appeared when I turned wifi off.  And yes, icon stays when making a call, so it looks to be working fine.

OP might be over thinking it. Also "Voice over wifi preferred" toggle will enable/disable VoLTE when wifi is connected.

Ha, maybe!  I was just confused that my OP12 has both VoWifi and VoLTE toggles, and the 2degrees instructions specifically mention it.

This maybe a strange question but was wondering if anyone has come across an issue, we have faced with our new S24's.

I used to have the S21 and the wife had an A52.  The A52's camera wouldn't take Aurora photo's so for her birthday we upgraded her phone to the S24 and I also upgraded to the S24 at the same time (some good deals through Samsung if you purchased two S24's at the same time). With my old S21 when I used it to look at the Sky in Finland, Norway and Iceland earlier this year, you could use it to spot any Aurora activity.  I just had it on night mode and pointed the device to the sky and on the screen, it would show any Auroa activity before taking the photo. This was the same with the Aurora activity in NZ back in May 2024.  Now with the new S24's, we can't see any Aurora activity on the S24 screen before taking a photo.  We tried during the recent Aurora activity, but nothing showed on the S24 screen but once the photo was taken and processed by the phone, the Aurora showed.  Have I got something wrong in the settings? My wife is a bit disappointed with not being able to use the S24 to spot the Aurora's and I have to admit, I wish I hadn't upgraded from the S21 which was a good phone.

When you are in the camera view and you tap in the viewfinder, you'll see a little tool pop up where you can slide the exposure up or down. I find the default is usually too high for most of my purposes, both day and night. Often I will slide that down quite far then adjust the light balance in the gallery. To your question: I find lowering also shows me more detail in the sky at night without the over exposed bright spots bleeding into the rest of the view.

Thanks for that, I will try that next time the Aurora shows.
