While I have an S3 with an emmc chip dating back to 04/12 I haven't had SDS happen to me and I'm now running 4.1.2 so don't expect to have it happen, I have got terrible battery life. I'm still using the original oem battery and now find I barely get a day including 1.5hrs of screen time before it dies. Wondering if perhaps the battery just needs replacing.

It's not that  GPSD process eating the battery is it? I have had it a couple of times and it chews the battery!

There doesn't appear to be anything in particular draining it excessively although BBS shows an inordinate amount of Alarms caused by android. My fiancee's S3 does have massive gpsd drain and usually dies before bedtime with only 30 mins of usage :/

I'm back from picking up my phone and all looks good. It's not a replacement, it's definitely my old phone back.

The Samsung Service Request form says that the service center is in Airborne Road, Albany, which is only a few miles away from the Albany Warehouse Stationery where I returned the phone, so maybe that's why the turn-around was so quick.

The Service Request form says:

Repair Descr: VF Replaced PBA, IMEI rebuild, service test PASS.
Condition Code: 1
Symptom Code: 11A
Defect Code: R
Repair Code: A4

Does that mean anything to anyone? Sounds like something was replaced, the Phone Board Assembly (motherboard)?

Under About Device it says:

Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: I9300XXELLA
Build number: JZO54K.I9300XXELLA

After going through the setup wizard I can see all my apps back on my phone, as well as some new apps: Paper Artist and Vodafone. The phone was a 2degrees model but I used it with a Vodafone SIM card. Looks like I've now got a Vodafone branded phone!

Its a shame they not putting 4.1.2 on it after repairing it coz with 4.1.1 the issue is bound to happen again...!

Tell me about it. I have been checking every day since Vodafone NZ released their update.
I suppose the modem would not be optimized if I chose a different official ROM?

I haven't had the original telecom modem since I flashed new Rom a week after I got it and have no issues. Mind you I'm on custom Rom but don't see issue if you flash one of the stock current ones.

thats good you have 4.1.2 ELLA so you have Multiview as well, press and hold the back button and a tab will appear on left hand side of screen.

See someone got 4.1.1 on their replacement which seems strange

Hmm, not sure if I'll use Multiview but I guess it's nice to know it's there.  I had a play with it on my partner's Note 10.1 and it's much more handy on a tablet than a phone.

I have noticed that the multiview tab keeps disappearing, even when enabled. Disabling and renabling brings it back, but looks to be a little buggy.

Yep both of ours came back 4.1.1, and they seemed to be the same phones as far as I could tell - mine had the same screen protector although with a whole new heap of really deep scratches (with my old familiar scratches underneath...). I didn't see the work order details though.

Sure it's not just hidden (you can hide it by holding down the back button, and make it re-appear by doing the same)

Thanks, didn't realize you could make it reappear by holding down the back button.

Replaced Motherboard = VF Replace PBA
Repair IMEI number = IMEI Rebuild
Test services to meet criteria of satisfaction = Service test PASS.

Not sure about the codes. Had my N95 motherboard replaced before and had the same repair description but a bit more descriptive :)

Interesting you say that, mine came back with a couple of smallish new scratches...a bit annoying, but not the end of the world.

Any one notice that Fireworks mode in Camera App is no longer there?
I used it before to take stunning Firework photos with it but it is no longer there after 4.1.2.
Not sure how to get it back.

Don't you need to make sure you have the correct frequency modem (850MHz WCDMA for Telecom I think)?

Is there an official ROM available from SamFirmware which will work well with Telecom XT network?
