I haven't had the original telecom modem since I flashed new Rom a week after I got it and have no issues. Mind you I'm on custom Rom but don't see issue if you flash one of the stock current ones.

Don't you need to make sure you have the correct frequency modem (850MHz WCDMA for Telecom I think)?

Is there an official ROM available from SamFirmware which will work well with Telecom XT network?

All modems work well. Haven't noticed any major difference. I flash most custom roms and just go with whatever the developer installs.  Most of the developers include a few modems with their custom roms but usually install stock (as whatever's in the latest stock firmware) as default.

Currently on DXELK1 on CrDroid v13 based on XXEMA2 firmware.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

webup: Ok im taking an S3 back back its driving me crazy with dropped calls and turning itself off randomly.

I ran triangle away but I think the root is stopping it from OTA updates as it detects modified so will Odin flash the 2D Rom again.

Dont want any customising messing up my warranty chances ;-)

Stock 4.1.1
Build I9300XXDLJ4 2 Degrees
Kernel 3.0.31-368423

First check if you have a MicroSD card plugged in :)

If you have then remove it and reboot. You should see STATUS: Normal.
The reason the status is Modified is because you have thirdparty Recovery. Had that on mine too, i'm removing CWM now and run TriangleAway again.
Try flash stock ROM 4.1.1 on again after TriangleAway. Suggesting you buy the paid version from Playstore for better result.

What you have suggested doesn't work, I have tried this and so have others.

How do you actually uninstall CWM, mine only has an option to disable, but not uninstall ?

It worked every time for me though. I got my status change from "Modified" to Normal easily by just did what I listed above.

How did you root your S3? CF_root 6.4 or CF-Auto-Root?

If you use CF_Root then it will run into problem, if you use CF-Auto Root then it should be perfectly fine with status of your device. Best way to do is to factory format it and start from scratch.

I did this on my phone before when I rooted with CF_root previously. Couldn't get rid of the System Modified status until I factory format it and root it again with CF-Auto-Root then download TriangleAway from PlayStore and run it. Then I download ROM Manager and flash CWM onto it. After that I get System Modified again. But re-run TriangleAway and it is now "NORMAL".

Also I formatted my microSD card as well. If that help.
You can always flash it via Odin anyway. To be honest, I never actually use OTA once lol.

Flash 4.1.2 Vodafone or 2Degrees and change Fast Dormancy setting to OFF, you'll need root for that.

After reading about Fast Dormancy (and how to turn it off) I think I will just be patient and wait for Telecom to release their 4.1.2 ROM

Seriously? You had never heard of CF_AUTO_ROOT? It has been around for a long time now on XDA.
Here is the link to get it from Chainfire repo.

Thanks.  Did as you suggested.

in download mode, I get "No", "Official" and "Official", but the status on the phone still shows modified for some reason. Weird.

Do you have SD card? If you do then eject it out and restart the phone to see. Also did you use Triangle away? If you are in Hamilton then I would offering you my service and fix it up.
