Ah well, at least I know now who to blame for slow updates!

The only reason I thought it was now using Vodafone firmware was because the Service Request form that came back after I had it repaired said "VF Replaced PBA, IMEI rebuild" and I assumed "VF" meant Vodafone.

Just for my education, how do you know which CSC's belong to which carriers? I assume there's a list somewhere?

Thats interesting... 2Degrees rollout of 4.1.2 was few weeks back..

Right, but was it MA1 or MA2?

Vodafone released MA1 a couple of weeks ago and then on Friday night the MA2 update came in, which is what we're talking about.

Have a read of this thread and see if it can help you. The suggested fix seems to be to create heaps of dummy files filling up the filesystem then deleting them.

Note: I haven't tried this because I'm not experiencing the problem anymore.

For what it is worth, I had SDS before Christmas and got a"new" mother board but it was still with the old chip so I eagerly awaited the update to 4.1.2.
Now that it is updated I think that my S3 is more responsive.
I hope I am not speaking too soon.
(and I know that this is not very scientific - it just seems better)

So if the CSC has "VNZ" then it's Vodafone, "TNZ" then it's Telecom, and "NZC" then it's 2degrees?

why do we create dummy files to invoke freezes!?
only one thing I understand is swift key flow which I have. probably I disable that to see if that makes any difference

Sorry for the bad link.

The idea behind creating a dummy file is to do with the way flash memory works. It's still a guess that it does anything, so really I'd wait for the moment.

It's impossible for it to be SwiftKey. The phone locking up etc can't be caused by a user space application.

btw I noticed freezing for few seconds on lock screen too and I thought it was new lock screen app I installed.I uninstalled it but with little difference.

the locks don't happen every time but frequent enough to be annoying
