Finally had enought of it freezing randomly after doing it in the middle of a podcast yesterday so took it in this morning to be sent away for repair, been told it will take around 2 weeks until I will see it again.

Lucky for me it did it while I was talking to the person in the store so they also put it on the form that it happened in front of them.
I just hope that it does not come back with moisture damage or something like that as it was pretty humid around Christmas when it all began.

PS Have my Lumia 920 to use while its away but its no replacement for the GSIII.

Mine did random reboot once the RAM maxed out. But MA2 does not have any thing differ from the previous version. Battery seems to be just as bad since after 4.1.1

I've been having battery issues with my S3 for a while. I've tracked it down to data usage by the Google Play Services (anything from gmail to G+ uses it), but haven't had a chance to look further. (Not huge usage, just frequent - keeps the phone awake more often)

Would that be the mediaserver under battery stats? I have had occasional high usage as well, but of late it seems to have settled down. I am using Wanam custom ROM but the base is much the same.

I have given up so bad on trying to get better battery life that I turn off data and sync most of the day. just turn it on maybe once or twice during the day for a few minutes to check my emails, facebook and browse news articles.. i know it kind of beats the purpose of a smartphone but.. cant do much anyway..

and even after cutting down my usage by so much, i still have to charge atleast once per 24 hrs

I dont have a problem charging once per 24 hours? I leave everything on, Wifi, Mobile data, bluetooth. Screen set to manual about half brightness. I get about 24 to 30 hours per day on mild use but screen time can drop that significantly. I also have a spare battery so I dont worry about battery anymore.

I'm not sure what it appears as - as the battery usage is not from Play Services, but from the cellular modem (Android OS maybe?). Play Services is just the catalyst.

That said, "Google Play Magazines" is taking a front row seat since I updated to 4.1.2.

I had a massive improvement by using a firewall app and blocking Google Play Services from using cellular data.
